Norrin_Radd
Remind me not to get you mad! Great selection of Tec covers and I'd be sorely tempted to choose them. To me the key is what the G/VG copies look like. If I got to choose them and they had an attractive appearance for the grade I'd go with them. Otherwise I'd go for the Caps. I see your point about appearance. There can be quite a different between comics in the same grade. As much as I love pre-Robin Detectives, I'd be sorely tempted to go for the Cap run. I love the Kirby & Schomburg art and the striking colors on those covers. Plus, they would look that much better in solid Fine condition. Both sets would take some time to put together, especially if you were picky about finding the nicest copies in grade.
The Black Hand ®
G/VG with off white or better pages and I'd choose the Detectives. Otherwise the Caps.

batman_fan
I would take the Detecives. In that lower grade range, you wouldn't feel so bad about taking all your clothes off and rolling around on them. Wait did I say that out loud?

I couldn't find any comparable off-hand so it's a guestimate.

1koko
definetly the Tecs - but me saying that shouldn't be a surprise.
Silver Surfer
I am a Cap fan but those Tecs would have a much better upside in value in the years to come.
Dark Knight
Alright. Enough of the which individual comic would you choose. I can't see putting a big pile of money into one single comic. But I could see putting together a run of comics that when completed would equal a big pile of money. So... Which set would you choose? Captain America Comics #2 through #10 in Fine condition OR Batman cover Pre-Robin Detective Comics in G/VG condition Here is the breakdown with my estimates of current cost. CA FN 2 $5000 3 $4000 4 $3000 5 $2000 6 $2000 7 $2000 8 $2000 9 $2000 10 $2000 Total $24000 Tec GVG 29 $5000 31 $6000 33 $6000 35 $5500 36 $2000 37 $1500 Total $26000 Both very expensive and would take me about 10 years to collect. But how awesome would either of these sets be to own? Well, this one is easy for me.. I'd take the pre-robin Tec collection in a heart beat .. I just need 4 issues to go, but it will take a while for me to get a

G.A.tor
Batman cover Pre-Robin Detective Comics in G/VG condition[/b] Here is the breakdown with my estimates of current cost. Tec GVG 29 $5000 31 $6000 33 $6000 35 $5500 36 $2000 37 $1500 Total $26000 Both very expensive and would take me about 10 years to collect. But how awesome would either of these sets be to own? hello all.. I would go with the Tec in a heartbeat (actually, that is what I am doing)... to give you some cost comparisons, I offered an owner of a tec 29 vg- copy (.5 from the g/vg) $10K and he turned me down (he wanted $15K, so I way passed), so I suspect I would pay at least $8-$10 K for a nice looking 29 in 3.0 or so....I think a 31 unrestored in 3.0 would fetch at least $8K-$10K ...the 33 closer to $7500...the 36 would be close to $3-4000, and the 37 I paid more than that for a 2.5...heck, it took $2390 to get a 3.0 #34 NON bat cover from heritage this week, that is what ,4x guide? just a current price comparison on the Tec's, as I don't know the Cap market at all... rick Edited November 18, 2006 by NewForceComics
