The Falcon - Unicornography

Wow, I think between you and me we make up 20% of their fanbase. I actually liked their EP better, God Don't Make No Trash. I can listen to that a couple times in a row and not get sick of it.

Wow, you've heard of them? hail.gif Yes, the EP is better thumbsup2.gif

Are you a "Lawrence Arms" fan as well? gossip.gif One of the lead singers fronts "The Falcon," that's why I ask.

Also, I read punknews.org on a daily basis and "The Falcon" are huge on there.

They even made a few of the "Year End" top 20 lists grin.gif

Lawrence Arms is great. Do you like The Broadways? Brendan Kelly's band before the Lawrence Arms.

Oh heck yeah, now we're talking!!!!

I have been listening to Brendan Kelly's bands since high school when he was in Slapstick. He was a frequent visitor to my favorite dive bar in the city, the L&L Tavern. Chicago is where it's at if you like that type of music.

Awesome! I loved Slapstick too, it's a shame they weren't around a little longer...

And yes, Chicago is a sort of punk mecca... I'm very jealous grin.gif

I love me some Slapstick. I have the first press of Lookit!, but sorry, NYC, DC or LA are punk meccas before Chi-town.

Yes to NYC, NO WAY to DC or LA....the Bay Area maybe. confused-smiley-013.gif

Yep, I have to make the NYC trip quite often if I want to catch a great show on the east coast thumbsup2.gif

Later to read while on my flight home from Tampa: finishing up Robert A. Heinlien's "The Puppet Masters" and starting a vintage, 1973 copy of ER Burroughs "The Land that Time Forgot" thumbsup2.gif

When not reading comic related material I mostly read sports books (bios) and magazines. I also enjoy local books (newfoundland written).

I usually listen to the radio (classic rock Q107) or music I have downloaded on my computer. I don't remember the last time I paid for a CD.

don't listen to music unless you consider fox sports a song. On the bookshelf are a bunch of hardcovers (legions archive, walking dead omnibus, shanna, marvel zombies, absolute planetary, etc.. oh and the new weis/hickman dragonlance book which i have to finish.

the rest of the bookshelf is full of the wifes cookbooks and some baby name books.

Stereo:

Neil Young and Crazy Horse - Live at the Fillmore 1970

Was about to order that. Is it great? (It has to be good, I mean, it's Neil.....)

Its 100% solid. I'd order it without hesitation. Its great to hear the original lineup and especially in that time-frame. Track for track, its probably as impressive as any of his other classic records although it has a strange "document" feel to me, which I think comes from being very familiar with the rest of his ouvre.

I'd also recommend "Shakey," if you haven't read it. Its fat though, and might take you a while to get through it you're having trouble finding time for a comic. smile.gif
