How many Signature Series books have been done?

2,486 Signature Series slabs.

I don't readily have the number of different books, because...

And what is the average grade...and yes, I have rated you accordingly as this is a great thread. grin.gif

I'll get back to you on the average grade for Signature Series.

It's a bit tougher since I didn't feel the need to store those counts...

(Total minus Universal, Qualified, and Restored = Signature...

but I have to do all the grades individually, then average...so I'll get back to you)

Can you sort which books by decade, exclude 2000, have received 10.0 or 9.9?

Well... the 9.9's probably wouldn't fit in this topic... since there are 1,641 of them.

Well... my degree in computer science (and my patience this weekend)

has finally paid off!

No, not in my "real job"... but right here in my hobby!

I now have the current CGC census numbers downloaded from the website.

Since I've just been given permission by Steve Borock to share these numbers,

my question to you is... what do you want to know?

I'd like to know the breakdown on total issues CGC'd for each publisher. Thanx!

How many 1960 Marvels in 9.4 & 9.6?

How many 1960 DCs in 9.4 & 9.6?

This one is interesting because "highest volume" for the decade

definitely goes to Marvel, but "percent of high grade" is actually higher for DC.

It's interesting how there have been more higher graded submissions of DC Comics over Marvel Comics from the 1960's. I hear al the time how much harder DC is to come by than Marvel. Not that I disagree, I just don't collect DC. I just find it interesting.

Again, great job, valiant!! 893applaud-thumb.gif

It's inteseting how there have been more higher graded submissions of DC Comics over Marvel Comics from the 1960's.

Only in '61 and '62 are there more high grade DC's than Marvels, by '63 there are more Marvels, and by the end of the decade there are nearly 5 times as many 9.6 or better Marvels than DC's per year.

This is not unexpected - the availability of Golden Age DC's far outnumbers the availability of Golden Age Marvels, and the DC Silver Age Superhero titles were established in the mid-late 50's, whereas there were only a couple Marvel superhero issues published before '62.

However, it is interesting that there is a higher percentage of high grade DC's than Marvels throughout the decade...perhaps we're only bothering to submit the higher grade DC's since the low-mid grades aren't getting a premium?

Let's test that hypothesis out...

Here are the percentages for Marvel and DC 9.4's and 9.6's for the 1960s

Valiantman you rule!!! Ive got a question: tell us a little about how you went about this. It seems you wrote a program that went into every book on the CGC census an dextracted all the grade info into a spreadsheet. And from there it was fairly easy (for a genius!) to sort it out into any query you want.

But did you really crunch the info one screen at a time as I guessed?
