I've pulled the data into Excel as well and have some interesting observations concerning the ID sequence:

 

1) Donut sold the 1st CGC comic auctioned on ebay to Metropolis - an FF #1. Is that Comic ID #3??

 

2) Two of the last unique books submitted are mine! One is, apparently, a 9.6 copy (not to be confused with an apparent 9.6 copy ) of DC Special 26 with the great Enemy Ace cover. I'm somewhat surprised this book hasn't been submitted, but as it only guides for $20...

Here's an odd request (not sure how practical; feel free to tell me to find this answer myself by downloading into Excel ):

3) Dispense with the following constraints

- minimum of 50+ high grade (CGC 8.0+) submissions,

- minimum of 50% graded at CGC 9.4+,

4) Finally, relax the CGC 9.4+ criterion to be CGC 9.0+

 

(clarification...all the above is intended as a single query, a modification of the query quoted above)

 

The reason I ask is that the above analysis suggests a lot of 1970s First Issue Hoarding at work. (Swamp Thing 9 is a notable exception for some odd reason; and ST #1 is missing ). I'm also interested in Marvels of the same period, but filtering of #1 issues would be less interesting in Marvel's case given the number of obvious keys that'll show up (ASM 121, 122, 129, UXM 94, etc).

So, let's make the contraint at least 20 submissions in CGC 8.0+,

and I'll sort by those books most often submitted in 9.0+.

This cuts the count back to 81 books from 3,743.

From the list created, there are several pseudo Number 1's that are similarly understandable from a collector hoarding point of view:

All-Star Comics 58 (1976) - (96.43%) 27 out of 28 books CGC 8.0+ are CGC 9.0+

1st Issue Special 8 (1975) - (95.92%) 47 out of 49 books CGC 8.0+ are CGC 9.0+

Showcase 58 (1965) - (95.45%) 21 out of 22 books CGC 8.0+ are CGC 9.0+

Tarzan 207 (1972) - (87.18%) 34 out of 39 books CGC 8.0+ are CGC 9.0+

Spectre 2 (1968) - (85.71%) 24 out of 28 books CGC 8.0+ are CGC 9.0+

Adventure Comics 431 (1974) - (83.33%) 30 out of 36 books CGC 8.0+ are CGC 9.0+
