...is the bottom photo in the article a Brownie? It doesn't look like one as described in the article. As the primary focus of the article, it would be cool to see a photo of a Brownie.

It's an 1890s Uncle Sam Brownie candle holder. One of the many pieces of Brownie merchandise produced relating to these early characters. There are a variety of different sizes and Brownie characters which were made into candle holders. They include Uncle Sam, a Policeman, The Dude, and numerous others.

And there is/was a very nice Brownies collection at the Lisbon Ohio Museum

circa 1993. Visited my old hometown in '93 for a funeral and was amazed

at how smaller things had gotten.
