Thanks guys. I actually put this one slightly higher than 9.0, but I can see how those spine breaks around the staple could be a problem. And no...not for sale at the moment. But the year is still young, and my kid's tuition is ALWAYS coming due!

what's going on above the word "challenge" anyway?

 

i think spine stresses tend to magnify in scans. my inital thought was a 9.0. nice book!

Hmm...never even noticed it before, or if I did, I thought it was stars in the night sky above Gotham!

 

Just took a look at it again, though, and there are definitely 2 very light blue areas in the ink there, but the scan seems to be magnifying them a lot. They're not nearly so noticeable in hand...

Yes, those two area's are not defects. They are printed that way.

I have those on my copy, and do all copies. nice.
