Is the Age of Apocalypse worth the read?

Thinking of buying these trades or comics...Is the story good?

Personally, I think it is...

 

Some parts are definitely better than others, but on the whole a good read. I especially like their take on Nightcrawler, in the A.o.A., as well as Iceman! The alternate story-line, to me, actually did more to showcase their potential than the regular series...

 

Oh, and I definitely prefer THAT Havok to the one we're saddled with...

Iceman owned. there's one issue where he 'died' only to find out that he pieced himself back together from the moisture of his ice in the air

I read all of it as it happened, and I thought it was pretty good. It was the storyline that got me back into comics after nearly 5 years of hiatus.
