Bang,

A great big Aussie thank you!!

Thank you for showing such a great range of history within your pics you've been posting for one and all to enjoy, drool over and other things that should not be discussed about in polite company.

To sit here and to be literally gobsmacked at looking at books that are up to twice my age and to think about just what these books have been through and how well preserved they are...basically they are the history of our collecting/hobby/obsession.

I know you have been asking the boards what they would like to see next, but i would like to ask to see those books that you are sentimental over, the ones you have enjoyed the most.

Because I think each and every person on here would agree, it is amazing to see how another enjoys this hobby we are all so fond about.

A very happy aussie

Robert

BZ,

Your collection is simply unreal. All of the cover colors are so bright, these books look like they have not seen the light of day since they were printed. Amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing.

hello all...

thanks BZ...that Crash and WW are stunning, and the Whiz #7 is a beaut (as well as all the others, of course)...

rick

Glad you've mentioned it Rick. That white on the WW cover is stunning as is the yellow on the FC 4.

BZ, thanks for thinking about doing the pulps. No rush. Have fun. Enjoy going through your collection from this new angle. thumbsup2.gif

BZ Do you have a complete masterlist of all the books in yor collection? I would love to just see a master lited posted somewhere if you have one and I am sure someone more computer savvy than myself would help with the uploading if you needed help...

It is truly a joy to see all these raw original books cared for all these years by someone who has understood the importance of protecting them. Kudos to you and thank you for sharing

I still haven't gotten over the FC 4. For those not familiar with Disney comics,

this key book is incredibly rare in any condition above VG. I have never seen a

copy better than FN. In comparison, there is an abundance of high grade copies

of most of the later Disney Four Colors due to the Poughkeepsie file copies.

All indications are that there were no such file copies of FC 4 and FC 16. And

FC 16 is considerably more common than the #4 with at least 3 CGC graded copies

above VF+ (although only 2 appear in the current census). Even Steve Geppi said

in an interview that he did not know what he would pay for a high grade FC 4

(which I guess is how rich people express that they really like something).

If the book in the picture is as VFish as it looks, it would be one

of the most desirable individual Disney comics in existence known to me, right

up there with the Crescent City WDCS 1 and the March of Comics 4 9.6 in the

CGC census.

Anyway, I just wanted to emphasize what Bang-Zoom is throwing at us: at least

based on the picture, this is no ordinary Duck book!

Edit: Answer to question below to avoid disturbing the thread:

> FC 16 - what's the deal with this book lately?

Geppi bought one copy for around $8,000 from Comic Heaven on eBay in 2002.

That one was a raw VF- or VF if I remember correctly. Then he bought another

CGC VF+ for $14,000 in early 2004. Yet another (different) VF+ copy was offered

in Hake's Jan. 2005 auction. It had an estimate of ~$20,000 but did not sell

as far as I remember. Heritage has an 8.5 in their upcoming auction which

is different from the one that Geppi bought - I don't know if it is the

same as the one from Hake's. Then there's a 9.2 in the census which might

or might not be an upgrade of either one of Geppi's copies or the third one.

Anyway, with so much action I'd hardly consider this book super rare - even in

grade.

For FC 4, there are no high grade sales recorded that I am aware of.

Hey Tb,

FC 16 - what's the deal with this book lately? I kind of thought it had somewhat dropped off some people's radars and just wondering if there's been a recent resurgence on mickey like there has been w/donald.. I haven't been paying attention, but I don't really recall hearing about any FC16's in a long while.

TB you have nailed the desirability of that book.

I have now reread this thread 3 times fully through and refreshed individual pages countless times. It is easy to get lost just staring at those pics and the stacks behind them. Whether the totality of these books is vf/ vf/nm or even higher.

It is important that we all remind ourselves often of just how rare a moment we are being treated to. As a lifelong collector, ok off and on at different points as I was overcome with lifes usual hurdles, this has been and still is clearly a moment to be cherished. It is only enhanced by the fact that BZ seems to be a gentleman of high quality and integrity.

While we are certainly limited in what we can see thus far, however I am certain we will all be hearing and discussing much about these books in the future.

That would be awesome! 893applaud-thumb.gif Don't get me wrong -- I love the pictures. But the scans bring the "unreality" of your collection that much closer to those of us who have never seen these books up close and personal. I sat in a dazed funk for about an hour after seeing scans of your Adventure #40 and All-American #16.

By the way, Bangzoom, I know you said the 1973 collection did not have an Action 1 or Detective 1. But do you own an Action 1 or Detective 1 from another source?
