skypinkblu
A battle for control of the Superman franchise pits Time Warner against the original Lois Lane. Time-Warner-Superman-Suit It's so sad the way corporations cheat the creators and in this case, their families. Did I read it correctly? Does Seigal's widow recieves a pension of only 135,000 dollars a year, if so, that's chump change, especially for the lady Lois Lane was modelled after. It's no where near enough, but I had no idea that they had been living in poverty prior to that, how sad...I hope they win their suit... That Kitty is just too cute,
Scrooge
Wonderful Tarzan item, Mr. Bedrock. Here's a Thor story. In fact, it is the first Thor story. Alas and again, the Fox story department ( ) went out for lunch after page 5 on this one. The artist it seems was left to fend for himself and coasted to the end of the story on the tails of a zillion captions starting with "Suddenly this" and "Suddenly that". Thankfully it lasted only 12 pages total. Still a fun story to look at -

The story is pretty bad, but it's great to see this early "mythological deity as superhero" plot device. Cool Stuff! Jeff

Could Kirby and Lee have vaguely remembered this story instead of the red-haired Thor of the Norse myths? (Maybe not Kirby -- didn't he do a red-haired Thor in an earlier one-shot DC story?) MrBedrock
Tarzan is one of my favorite fictional characters. I read all the ERB books when I was a kid and always thought that assembling a Tarzan or Burroughs focused collection would be fun. Your posters reinforce that idea. BZ, I think your past posts indicate you did an A-OK job of putting together a Burroughs collection! The cool thing about this stuff is that you can never have everything so there is always something neat to shoot for.

Jack Yes there is another Thor out there (or two) ... but there is only one Hercules. OK folks, let's chant his name. Hercules! Hercules! Hercules! ... and here he appears magnificent. Probably one of the most striking and stunning stories I have posted IMO, esp. pages 6 through 9 -

Wasn't there also a Silver Age DC Thor by Kirby with red hair? In one of the anthologies like Strange Adventures or My Greatest Adventure? I can't put my finger on it. Scrooge
Boy, the colors on that Hercules story really jump out at you. The colouring is unusual, esp. in the attention to detail in the dawn sky later in the story. That was refreshing rather than having a red sky as one could see in a L.B. Cole Star book. Hopefully, we haven't reached story saturation from this readership but it's been a while so here's another Guardineer story, a short one -
Jayman
Scrooge, that last story was a hoot! Someone was channeling Edgar Allan Poe on that one! Loved after the Mouthpiece shoots him "Squarely between the eyes!" he pronounces "Death was instantaneous!" Love this Peter Lorre looking guy! BangZoom
Anyone remember Napoleon the XIV's 1966 hit, "They're Coming to Take Me Away?" Remember when you ran away And I got on my knees And begged you not to leave Because I'd go berserk? Well. . . You left me anyhow And then the days got worse and worse And now you see I've gone Completely out of my mind And. . . They're coming to take me away, HA HA They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA To the funny farm Where life is beautiful all the time And I'll be happy to see Those nice, young men In their clean, white coats And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa! You thought it was a joke And so you laughed You laughed when I had said That losing you would make me flip my lid Right. . . You know you laughed, I heard you laugh You laughed, you laughed and laughed And then you left But now you know I'm utterly mad! And. . . They're coming to take me away, HA HA They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA To the happy home With trees and flowers and chirping birds And basket weavers who sit and smile And twiddle their thumbs and toes And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa! I cooked your food I cleaned your house And this is how you pay me back For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!! Hah. . . Well you just wait They'll find you yet And when they do they'll Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt! And. . . They're coming to take me away, HA HA They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA To the funny farm Where life is beautiful all the time And I'll be happy to see Those nice, young men In their clean, white coats And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
