Does anybody know what happened to Bob Layton?

Best known as one of the big wheels at Valiant, He sort of disappeared after his big payday...

To me, though, he will always be the definitive Iron Man artist (and inker), and his Hercules mini-series (both) were some of the most fun I ever had reading comics...

One thing about him always made me laugh, though:

When he was the Big Boss at Valiant, their slogan , written across a blood-stained comic page was, "Valiant! Where dead is DEAD "...

I always found it ironic since Layton was the guy that cooked up the scheme that put Jean Grey in that underwater pod, to be found by Mr. Fantastic, after Phoenix had been dead for years... 893whatthe.gif

"Pot-and-kettle", Bobby! 893naughty-thumb.gif

Actually, I think it was Jim Shooter's slogan, "Valiant! Where dead is DEAD".

Then he proceeded to kill Torque (the big guy) from Harbinger in the 6th issue.

And he killed Rai in Rai #7...(burnt to a crisp).

Bob Layton was definitely there from the beginning, but it's pretty clear

that Jim Shooter actually called the shots in most books until he was ousted.

(And it's also clear that Valiant WITH Jim Shooter was MUCH better than Valiant without.)

Yes, Bob Layton is at Future Comics. Freemind, Metallix...etc.

Shooter had a great sense of characterization.....

Anybody know what Sienkiewicz is up to?

My understanding is that he's working on a project called "Wayward Blenders", which would, of course, be the follow-up to "Stray Toasters"... smirk.gif
