Page color question

I have purchased a few comics from a local comic shop and have noticed that the pages look a little dark on the top and edges while the bottom of the pages are lighter. These are bronze age DC and Marvel.

 

Is this normal or is this lowering the grade of the comic?

The top and edge tone more due to the fact that those areas have more contact with oxygen, pollutants and light than the bottom edge of boxed comics.

 

Unless the toning is real bad (tanned and/or brittle) it won't make a grade difference except in the very highest grades (over 9.8).
