PGM Ult Spidey 1, a "thing" to check out

I'm curious a) what you think the grade of this book is and, more importantly, b) how much you think that "thing" in the upper left corner affects the grade. I am not sure what it is. You can feel it so something is on the the comic. I am tempted to try and scrape it off but then common sense takes hold and I resist. Thoughts? I left the scan of the front cover pretty big so you could get a good look at the "thing." Thanks.

I have no idea how it would change the grade. I assume the cover paper is that slick and heavy stuff, so I would do the following: Using a damp (barely wet) sponge gently dab at the spot then try and lift it off. Maybe wonderbread? In any event I don't think the book will grade out in the 9.8 range, so maybe the spot does not matter so much.

 

I've taken a few spots off of books so it is possible, however, it could also scuff it up a bit.

A small stain can drop a book a few grades. A book that looks every bit a 9.4 with a small stain (be it water or whatever) could drop it into the 8.5 range.

that's quite possibly a stain...if it's confirmed it can have a big impact on the grade.
