Tim, Yup that's my Sid's Luncheonette copy...I've got that and a few other decent pre #30 copies and all of the 1-10 set still, but they're all midgrade...........seems that i read the 10 centers a bit more than the later issues.. JLA_ALL_THE_WAY
Harry, Your idea of "decent" is a White paged 9.6 of a '64 JLA? Man, I wanna hang with you! *might as well burn my 9.4-B ish* Rick

Man, I wanna hang with you! *might as well burn my 9.4-B ish* Rick Sorry, Rick - I meant the OTHERS were "decent" (8.0's - 9.0's). that 9.6 is one of only 4 of my DC's that acheived that grade. (Never had a 9.6 Marvel in the bunch ) Lot's of 9.4's though.......
tth2
that 9.6 is one of only 4 of my DC's that acheived that grade. (Never had a 9.6 Marvel in the bunch Harry, it was always interesting to me that some of your books that achieved top grades somehow turned out to be the books that have most commonly appeared in high grade. For instance, your sole 9.6 JLA was #28, which is probably the most common early JLA in 9.6. Similarly, I believe your sole 9.4 early JIM was #88, which I believe has more copies in 9.4 than any other of the JIMs in the 80s. I always attributed the high numbers of those issues to being from some sort of early warehouse set or at least a store's untouched inventory. But the fact that your collection somehow paralleled the grade pattern of those issues makes me think that sometimes there's just divine coincidence at work. By the way, you might want to "turn up the volume" a bit on your scan of the #28. If it looks like the other Sid's books that I've had the privilege to own, it probably glows in real life, whereas your scan makes it look a bit dingy. FF11 in 9.4 comes to mind immediately....

LOTS of your books that came back in 9.4 or higher were indeed scarce in NM, Harry. Tom Brulato is no dummy when it comes to identifying tough books, and he snapped up a bunch of your books without any hesitation.
tth2
Well, I needed this 8 before the 28 Wow, this brings back memories! When the first SNE catalog with the Winnipeg collection came out, I frantically called to try to snag the early JLAs that were listed, but they were all gone already. I always wondered who ended up with them. That is a beautiful 8.5. What in the world is knocking down its grade?
JLA_ALL_THE_WAY
I was wondering the same thing? Then I caught what looks like a crease at the bottom in the letter "A" in "SALE." But there's got to be more to it than that & the bottom left edge roughness, right? re-sub? Either way, it's a winner! Rick

As for what knocks down the grade, the bottom edge has some minor scuffing along with the front bottom left corner is slightly rounded and slightly dinged on back. Also, the guy with the hat in the right corner has a slight crease close to the right edge through his hair and hat.

JLA_ALL_THE_WAY
Something just crossed my mind: I don't ever recall seeing an early JLA in the RED label...? Am I losing my mind? I can't remember if the red was used at the beginning for all books, or just moderns? What's wrong with me? Someone (besides Greggy) clue me in please. And no, I don't mind the obligatory "Duh, you is retarded, Rick" comments. Rick
tth2
It was just for moderns. `.

Justin Tnic Otyme
Researching prices for JLA and I came across #38. Why is the 9.2 pricing and 9.4 pricing so high? Is this a key issue?
JLA_ALL_THE_WAY
Semi-key at best (though I love stories about doppelganger confrontations). Released Sept 1965. 2nd part of the 3rd annual JSA cross-over. White background cover. 52 graded: 3/9.6--12/9.4--8/9.2 = upper 44 percentile What do you consider "high" for this book in 9.4...over $500?
