This is the highest grade this comic has according to CGC census. Also, there are only 5 copies graded 9.8, and I own 3 of them. The chances of seeing another copy this high are slim to none

 

i guess hence the high reserve

John Byrne's Next Men #21 is not a part of Hellboy continuity. In the story it is acknowledged by the characters in the story that Hellboy is a comic book character created by Mike Mignola that has been manifested by another character's subconscious.

 

And San Diego Comic Con Comics 2 which proceeded Next Men 21 by a couple of months was a Black and White Promo Exclusive that was only available at the San Diego Comic-Con in 1993. The Hellboy stories were later reprinted in one of the Hellboy tpbs. They are a part of Hellboy continuity.

 

So a giveaway comic.... then a "bogus" first appearance....
