Thoughts on erasing pencil marks?
Or am I just being stupid?
So, I'm going to show my noobiness to comics again. I recently bought an ungraded copy of ASM #6. Based on the cover/interior I would imagine it will grade around a 5 or 5.5. However, on the first page near the top of the page, "345" is written in small pencil text. Not a huge deal, but this brings up my question.
Do I leave the writing there? Would this small bit of writing potentially lower the grade, or even worse, constitute a "qualified" grade?
Or do I erase the writing? My concern here is: A. Could that somehow be found out, and would that be considered a restoration and give me that dreaded purple label? B. There's always the chance that erasing here would damage/discolor the page, or even potentially rip the likely brittle page!
So....thoughts? Obviously I enjoy collecting my comics, but I'm also very much interesting in taking the route that will ensure that my collection ends up being a positive investment down the line. Would definitely appreciate input from anyone as to what the best route to take would be! Thanks guys.
