  1. They usually will list an origin story but not always a retelling, I think Fortunaltely it mentions the Spirit origin on the cover.
  2. Those look like pretty good covers. Scans added for discussion and not to imply ownership on my part.
  3. That must be a tough one to find. Collectors don't want to let it go. Nice...
  4. I like Kerry Drake but probably like Speed and All-New a little more.
  5. And it was been pointed out before that Grag, the robot on the cover. is probably saving Joan, not abducting her. However, I haven't read the story yet.
  6. Planet is such a fun title, isn't it? Some really nice action-packed, colorful covers there! And Captain Future is still in one of the other boxes. I was reading one of the stories in CF and started to think that he inspired Lucas. The two arguing robots, Grag and Ortho, seemed to ring a bell, C3PO and R2D2.
  7. Early Planet Stories between two Bracketts. Anyone who could write the scripts for "The Big Sleep" and "The Empire Strikes Back" deserves an occasional mention. Leigh was also married to Edmond Hamilton who wrote the Captain Future series.
  8. I like that one. Is it available? Cap is riding a WWII Harley.
  9. I have been trying to buy an All Winners 4 (scan from Heritage Auction) but already have a CC 12. I like Halloween covers almost as much as Christmas covers.
  10. Any J.R. Williams' art in your collection? His "Out Our Way" cartoons were popular well into the sixties but probably reprinted and done by ghost artists. I remember someone mentioned in a chat group that his art was exhibited in a cowboy museum somewhere in the southwest. Anyone been there? Scan from Comics Plus. I have probably asked these questions before but they recently added a large set of Daily cartoons. The Monroe Evening News always published those cartoons which I enjoyed very much when I was in high school.
  11. The art reminds me of George Carlson's work in Jingle Jangle.
  12. I like this early robot story from Jumbo 5, I think.
  13. I added a few Superman comics this year and made another group shot. I like those Luthor covers.
  14. Baker's wash covers looked painted.
  15. They haven't been replaced at our house. The ornaments will shatter if they fall off of the tree onto the hardwood floor. Tinsel is still on the tree but the lights have changed. I still miss the old bubble lights. and would like a set of Disney lights for the tree too.
  16. I think I like that issue 12 cover the best. And speaking of Dreams, I got this scan from one of the Ralston issues.
  17. I am also interested in obtaining western comic covers. Especially need Lone Ranger covers from Dell. But also want Atlas and ME covers.
  18. I still need most of these if anyone is interested.
  19. I like those Ralston issues very much. Meagher was the artist and he also drew Straight Arrow. I think I have the second issue in poor condition and a few later ones. Picked up this Fawcett Tom Mix from Bob Horn. You need a few more rings and badges to go with those first issues.
  20. W WDC 166-01 Midgets Madness I am probably the only one but I think that issue about Donald and midget race cars was a favorite. WDCS 125 and 140 have the first Woodchucks and Gyro stories, respectively. And WDCS 146 has the Omelet story which was a favorite of many.
  21. I'll probably never complete the Showcase collection but haven't given up.
  22. I like those too... Most of these were purchased at the Rexall Drug Store by me back in the sixties.
