  1. BZ, I will try a quiz if you don't mind. Does anyone recognize the artist of this mad scientist adventure? Is it too easy? Perhaps one panel would have been enough but I wanted to show the strange looking monsters too. bb
  2. The turkey cover was by Fred Craft and the Kid Wolf Xmas cover was by H.W.Scott. Most of the Wild West Weekly issues featured characters like Kid Wolf, Sonny Tabor, Cowboys from the Circle J, Senor Red Mask, Oklahoma Kid and the Silver Kid. My father used to keep a big box of western pulps under his bed. He saved them for years but were lost when we moved to Ohio in the sixties. I imagine he grew up reading them and didn't want people to know he still had them. Pretty good characters in the stories I think. bb
  3. Do you need the BLA stories to have a complete WW collection? bb
  4. Seasonal scenes from a couple of western pulps that you don't see very often. bb
  5. Another duck cover worth keeping. bb
  6. I really like the Hangman but the Web was a quick favorite due to splash panels like the one above.. His artist used the web pretty well . I wonder what Ditko could have done with the character (precode stories of course)? bb
  7. BZ, I always enjoyed the early Batman covers. This is one of my favorites. Do you have a good scan of Batman 10? The Detective comics spash panels are pretty good too. I think this scan was picked up from the Detective thread. (Det 35 splash?)
  8. Scrooge and Donald are still the best story characters. bb
  9. BZ, Thanks for the great scans of Target. I have an issue with a steam roller rolling over Hitler cover. But I really enjoy the Wolverton art on the inside. By the way, Sid Greene did the art on the Target in this issue. bb
  10. Jack, I think that a chemist could contaminate the water with a virus or bacteria but I am not sure he could make an anti-toxin. At least those guys should have known how to store it. It probably needs refrigeration. Thats what I learned in my microbiology class. Probably a bacteria toxin might be what the author thought was involved. I think rotavirus is the only virus that produces an endotoxin an it isn't deadly, usually. Purification of proteins toxins may require a good biochemist. But on the other hand Linus Pauling worked on DNA and he was a chemist. So chemist may be the culprits but they could use help from an evil microbiologist. When I had hepatitis, everyone in the lab got an immunoglobulin shot. If I had tetanus, I would have had an anti-toxin shot I think. bb
  11. A quick shot of the first super hero from 1937 and then I am done for the day. bb
  12. I saw this on line and wondered what Mavel Mystery would look like in a color ad. So I used my copy of MM26 to make this. Should I finish by painting? bb
  13. Thanks for posting the Supersnipe. I went looking for my Super box and found these two on the top. They are some of the better Big Big books and should be interesting to all those ERB fans out there. bb
  14. BZ, Good eye. Thanks for identifying the New Funnies 74. bb
  15. Supersnipe is terrific. Do you have the cover where he is sticking pins into Hitler? bb
  16. BZ, The Our Gang covers look pretty good. I liked the Barney the Bear stories by Barks. I have a couple of coverless copies of New Funnies that you might be able to identify for me. bb
  17. Someone requested Krazy Kat. This is a slightly trimed Sunday page (1937) from the Smithsonian Collection of Newspaper Comics. Still a great book in paperback or hardbound. bb
  18. The other mouse is fun too. Especially when fighting giant robots. bb
  19. I wasn't smart enough to purchase a lithograph or the Barks art book with high quality reproductions of his paintings but I do have a lot of comics by Barks. bb
  20. Dogfight by Schomburg from the Navy Marine Paint Book
  21. Hey, I found this hand colored scan on line. Biljo White from Alter Ego 7. I don't know who colored it. BB
  22. And while I have the Ducks out... How about a nice proof of some Barks art. From Four Color 147. bb
  23. I was too busy giving out candy last night to post these. DD 26 has one of my favorite stories and it is a great cartoon. bb
  24. I liked the paperback versions of EC comics. Nice little covers by Frazetta too. bb And thanks for the strange story. Anything that reminds me of Wolverton is good.
