  1. :hail: Nice thread.......Baptist convention...... Does anyone know Wertham's religious background? I bet those leaving that con were convinced that comics were "of the devil." It reminds me of logical fallacies and the ol' post hoc fallacy...the event of comic books eventually led to a rise in juvenile delinquency. Not that Baptists should be singled out--plenty of atheists, agnostics, and other religiously persuaded folks have been/are guilty of a lack of thinking. And back in the '50s and '60s they didn't even have the distraction of the world-wide Web or reality TV. But as we soon learned, it was really Rock 'n' roll that was responsible for juvenile delinquency, at least until television became the reason for it. But video games, yeah, that's it, violent video games are the real reason for all the juvenile delinquency. (I'm looking forward to the day comics can be to blame again.) Good point. Elvis the Pelvis. He musta had something to do with it. The combo between rock 'n' roll and the boob tube was just too much. Somebody should come up with some video game with Wertham as either a hero or villain.
  2. Love and Death? Thought Woody Allen had the market on that phrase ( If you haven't seen Allen's '75 film--"Love and Death"--you really need to do that ).

  4. Kudos out to: --Socratic Wonder for a Miller Daredevil and a SA Spidey, along with a BA DD freebie. --ebradley for a huge batch of nicely priced SA and BA Spideys.
  5. May I infer that you are celebrating the wacky tabacky...or that you never touch the stuff? Or this belongs in the "Ask Greggy" thread?
  6. Because of the hash oil cover? I wonder whether CGC would note that on the label? The THC content would simply get a designated grade between 1 and 10--and the blue label would symbolize the siren on top of the squad car in pursuit of the slab.
  7. Kudos to spiderman-on-tilt for a nice batch of modern ASMs.
  8. Kudos to comicdey for a batch of sweet books--all priced very nicely.
  9. Kudos, this evening, going out to: --Cap Freak for a Batman #227. --Zonker for a dozen Adventure Comics featuring Supergirl. --ft88 for a dirt cheap price on a Superman Annual #1. :hail:
  10. Kudos to CJ for helping me fill in two holes in my latter day ASM set--Vol. 2 #15 and #19 ( AKA #456 and #460). About 30 to go until a complete set is achieved.
  11. It's hard to, ahem, count all your latest. Sweet books!
  12. Any book that I didn't personally buy off the racks, has a possibility of kitty pee on it.
  13. Kudos going out to cd4ever in the Heartland of the U.S.--for yet another box of sweet books, very conservatively graded and pretty much dirt cheap drek...which included the diversity of ASM #65, Arrgh! #1, Red Wolf #1, and a couple of BA Supes.

  15. Sorry , I guess jealous would have been more apropo ...... Hey Cloud , BTW , I heard you can possibly gain internet access by climbing to the roof of your house , jumping off , and swinging around three times by your electric line coming to your house .... ............................................
  16. Kudos to Skynwalker for a nice deal on a very sweet ASM #310 slab...9.6 and white pages.
