  1. Just wanted to say that Spider-Dan is top notch. Received a very sweet ASM #14 today. Professional packing, prompt service, and a nice guy to boot. Thanks, Dan!

  2. :applause: Congrats on nearly completing the run! I finished my run a few years back then went and sold everything but 1-100 + keys to fund my purchase of the AF15 in my sig line. I've been enjoying the hunt for upgrades... :tonofbricks:

To still have the #1-100 run while picking up an AF #15 CGC 3.5 in the process is pretty dang sweet.

  3. You said it Scott, either upgrade or change collecting, CGC or sell off to do something else.

I had them all when it was at about #400, and I got tired of the high costs and poor stories, plus the 2nd prints and variants had just begun. I don't really plan to go after that later stuff, but I want find a way to read as much of the stories again from the beginning. Who knows how that will turn out, I might want more, or decide what I did was enough.

The crooks of the industry turn a lot of people off, and I'm just finding out about another mistake I made over eight years ago. Night.

I can't deny that it was a PAIN trying to get all caught up on the modern deluge and separating 1st print from whatever subsequent print, variants, etc. The reading aspect is something I am WAY behind on. And it ain't just funny books either. Current culture is certainly an Electronic/Digital Age mentality where the screen is king, whether TV or computer or phone...and sustained reflection and reading--a Print Age mentality--is "so yesterday," to put it in adolescent vernacular. I'd like to blame culture but my lazy azz just needs to read more. And I can't do it via the screen because I'm "so ADD."

Don, your final sentence begs for elaboration (more so than my inane rambling). A mistake you made, circa '03? If you can, do tell. :wishluck:

  4. Alright, gals & fellas. Haven't made the one-hour trek to pick up the latest ASMs in a while (last issue I got was #647 )...but they are on reserve and I shall get them soon. However, the excitement I currently feel is palpable: I only need one ASM--#3--to have a complete set (#1-present plus all the Annuals). Don't currently have the funds for a #3, but will be on the hunt for a very low grade copy this summer--or sooner. :wishluck:

Since 2007, when I hopped back into the hobby hard-core, I've been on this mission (though I have been distracted by countless other comics through these maddening boards :insane:) and it's kind of a weird feeling now. And I don't think it was the chicken dinner I ate.

When I get that #3 in hand, what's next for those who have experienced it? Endless upgrading? Temptations to sell off runs to land a higher grade ASM #1 or AF #15? Nirvana? Restlessness? The blues? Discarding them all and going DC? Trading them for a warehouse full of Heroes, Inc.?

    Do tell.

I think you already know this Scott, but my ultimate end-all goal is to have a complete ASM slab run (1 thru present, Giant-Size 1 thru 6 and all of the Annuals). They won't all have to be high grade slabs either. And I'm about 50% of the way there right now. :)

You've already got 'em all...but now you just need 'em all slabbed, eh? :hail:

Only 15 of my ASMs are slabbed so I'll remain in the bleachers, cheering you on as you pursue that truly demented goal. :insane:

  7. Was proposing to add SAGAT to the list due to the restored Avengers 1 he sold to me as non restored. When asked whether or not it was restored he blatantly lied and said it was not.

When the book was discovered to be actually restored he claimed innocence and refused to make good on the deal.

He vanished, would not answer emails or 2 years. I even went so far as to have a lawyer draw up a letter asking him to make good on his obligation.

This link is to the post I made after I had purchased the book from SAGAT and was unfamiliar with restoration at the time. Avengers 1

When I finally encountered SAGAT at the gym in my building I was able to get him to fork up half of the amount that he owed me, as I sold the book on ebay as extensive A for 480. SAGAT paid up 400, which we mutually agreed upon, as I felt sorry for him due to his claims that he was completely unaware that the book was restored and bought it unaware of the restoration. Which he also claimed on the boards when he was outed here SAGAT

The contrary has now come to light as October says he was present when SAGAT bought the book in Chicago knowing full well that it was restored and that he would sell it on ebay as unrestored.

SAGAT and I agreed that this matter was over with the partial refund, that was forced out of him mind you, but based on the new information that has come to light I personally believe that SAGAT owes me the remainder of this money or should be placed on the probation list until he comes clean and admits his wrong doing.

This all happened off the boards so I can understand how some might feel that he should not be added, however he did blatantly lie to everyone on the boards regarding this matter. Thoughts, opinions would be appreciated.

Sorry for this being so long winded. :sorry:

October slam dunk testimony. Doesn't appear to be any ambiguity on this one. On the probation list he goes. :sumo:

  8. I (TVanderZwaag) sent Pitboss a refund through Paypal for a smashed up book I sent him two years ago (ya I know I'm a doosh). I sent him an email and a PM but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. I hope it doesn't take him two years to respond. :sorry:

Hey hey Probie list shill. :hi:

Were you the guy with the funky pyjamas?

    Indeed.

  10. Is Jimmer going to slow down and give the Gators the lead?

I need them going to the final four in my bracket.

    Elite 8 baby!

:whee: The Gators will be back in the Final Four. Third national title in 6 years?

  11. rattles my widows?

That has gotta hurt. Didn't know you were the poetic sort Jimmer.

    Lay some more on us.

Did you mean windows? (typo?)...or is it widows? Either way, a great creation. Like others have said, it IS poetic. That's no small thing. Most can't do it.

    Jimmers! :headbang:
