Yea CGC will tell me if its real or not. And yes I did pay $100 for it. Even if it turna out the top 5 covers were added and they remove them, I would still profit a little off a 9.6/9.8!

CGC would never remove the covers - doesn't matter whether they're legit or not. If they aren't legit, the book will come back as is in a Qualified label slab.

That sucks about Ferrigno.  I've heard similar stories a LOT about him over the years.  Take comfort in knowing you're not alone.  I'm sure a lot of people have a "I wish I had reacted like this" moment with him.

I may have the person wrong, but I think I read a story where Comix4Fun (maybe Seanfingh...you lawyers are all the same to me ;)) walked away with his pride and his unsigned books after Ferrigno tried some funny business with his pricing.

Seanfingh is the master of just walking away - I still remember going with him to Suydam so he could get a sig on some random, no-value copper age book. When Suydam informed him of his ridiculous Marvel Zombies-bloated signature fee, Sean turned around, started walking away and as he passed a nearby trash can, threw the book straight in the trash. Good times.

I have a hard time cracking the new CGC slabs. I've only had one Voldy book, but it was difficult to crack too.

The Voldemort books are super easy to crack - just grab a bottle opener or multi-tool that has a tabbed end and you can pop the little hinges right off.

It's actually a bit scary just how easy the Voldemort case comes apart - if you're careful, you can easily pop the top, slide the book out, swap it with another book, and then simply tap the top part back in place without there being any trace of your nefarious activities.

Anyway, I've used a tool like this to crack a bunch of their slabs - it works well for the new CGC cases too:

  4. If you send a book in for a reholder, it'll get regraded in the following scenarios:

    1) multiple corner posts have been broken (if 2 are cracked, the book can be slid out of the case)
    2) the case is cracked in a way where, again, the book could have been swapped out
    3) a cursory inspection of the book shows defects that just wouldn't be allowed in the grade it had previously (eg. you send in a blue label 9.6 book where a piece is now torn off)

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have the same question as the OP and I'm not following about the suggestions of a piece of paper in the "gap on the sides of the case". There are no gaps on my slab, not even a small one that paper could fit into. Anyone got a video demonstrating this technique?

With the new slabs, there's no gap for you to insert a piece of a paper, unfortunately.

I would say it depends on your motivation @Bigsexy

Personally, I don't need CVA to tell me a book has outstanding eye appeal any more than I do CGC to tell me a book is 8.5

But if your motivation is financial, I would imagine their sticker could have a positive bearing on the sale price of the type of books you're referring to.

There has been absolutely no indication that this has been the case in the past. Books that look fantastic for their grade sell for a (slight) premium with or without a CVA sticker.

How is that a strech? She's done ONE witnessed signing. thats is.  Shes def not a regular on the con scene and may never do another one. Qualifies as rare to me. Especially on a sold out convention exclusive book.

Because any modern book that has 200 CGC 9.8 SS copies signed by the same person really isn't that rare.
Because pretty much any half-way decent convention exclusive at a large show (which in this case was Wondercon) will sell out during the show.
Because there's 10+ copies available on Ebay right now.

    Take your pick (shrug)

They are both worth the same. Celebrity authentics is just a company who sells 100% authenticated autographs.

As for Rarity. they are both RARE. Gal only did one signing. Rhode Island comic con last year. There are no other sig series books signed by her other than that date. Also the Photo variant book is just as rare on its own as it was a convention book from one of those super mega wonder cons last year and it sold out at said con.

The best guy to ask about these is Torrey board name Kevlar. He runs twin cities comics and had a private signing with her there. I do believe he is affiliated with celeb authentics in some way.

When it comes down to it though, if you can snag a photo variant signed by gal get it. It has a lot going on in its favor!

It's a nice book, but with 200 CGC 9.8 SS copies signed by Gadot saying it's rare is a bit of stretch.

To the OP - if you want a copy, now is definitely not the time to be buying one. Just be patient and you'll be able to pick up a copy cheaper than what it's currently going for.

A flipper or someone in the business of selling SS yellow label books would be bothered by the inscriptions as they know it detracts from the desirability of the book on the aftermarket.

There are plenty of people who don't fall into either of those categories who'd much prefer not to have their collectibles personalized as well.
