Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
Tec-Tac-Toe replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
Not that any other board member should care, and very likely do not, but I'm undecided whether to renew my CGC membership that expired on September 5, 2023, due primarily to the continuous QC issues although I have been on a run of good fortune with QC. Thankfully, this decision is quite easier than almost any other one for me; a tough one is what to have for lunch at home or otherwise. -

Perhaps it is referring to Catwoman. -
So do I, downward.

Fast track isn’t fast
Tec-Tac-Toe replied to Robert Cuno's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
To be simplistically sarcastic, since sarcasm is very simplistic, the point is CGC receives more money. To my recollection, fast track has on occasion been "faster" when, for example, "regular" (or is that non-fast) track took three, four months, perhaps a bit longer. Of course, fast track was, arguably, that I recall, not that fast at those times. I imagine from your comment that it is not currently fast. Perhaps CGC fast is not what it used to be, if it ever was. Lastly, I will note that I have never used fast track and never will. -
I purchased the Tec 441 graded and it was graded on 03/06/2006, almost 18 years ago, and so far, so good for the top cover not shifting. I have three other CGC graded comic books with double covers, also purchased graded; I'll check to see if I have scans of them; and the covers have also stayed in place, they are in the same generation of holders (Second generation? I forget.) as the Tec. Lastly, as you note, with the endemic QC issues double, etc., covers, I'll write, may cause some issues for CGC QC.

It looks like a Klyntar. Perhaps that is the problem CGC is having. -

Time payments likewise allowed me to purchase many CGC graded comic books. I especially laud Bob, HGC, Roy, VC, and the folks he worked with, and GRRC, now RRC, for such opportunities.

PGX Comics East is permanently closed for business.

Until you mentioned HR I had not thought about that company since the pertinent (infamous) thread was locked. Apparently, it is somewhat still in business. Now, PGX ... -
Previously, I think it ended perhaps 4 or 5 years ago, I was able to use the many pieces of cardboard CGC added to shipments for added security of the individual packages of comic books, two cardboard pieces at either (oops; edit) end, for my shipments to CGC. I used them to save the ones I had purchased. Now, as you noted, the comic books arrive with very few of them. If I recall correctly, I believe that all of the 25 comic book shipments I have received since around 2018 or 2019 have had perhaps 4, maybe 5, pieces in each box. Consequently, the comic books arrive somewhat loose and, of course, they hit (slam up against) each other during their transit.

Yes! I still have the boxes CGC previously used, I use them to store some of the extra copies CGC graded issues that I own, and they are fantastic. CGC, of course, started cutting corners years ago and cheaper smaller weaker 25 and 15 comic book shipping boxes was among its first efforts in that regard.

Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???
Tec-Tac-Toe replied to InfantTerrible's topic in Comics General
I'm rich, rich I tell you ... until my copies sell each for $64.41. As noted, this issue is common and if CGC feels like it they will grade many more 9.8 (higher?). Still some folks are still paying the big bucks for this and many more BA comic books as I relatively did years ago. Will, as some have and continue to predict, the bottom fall out for BA at some point? I, for one, wish I knew for certain. -
Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
Tec-Tac-Toe replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
Mike, Does the grade date of 8/23 indicate when the comic book was graded, when the error was corrected, or both? My assumption is that it was graded prior to 8/23, e.g., 8/21, is that, I'll write in the negative, incorrect. Thank you. -

I have no idea. Perhaps Mike can enlighten board members.
