  1. "I am from" the late 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s time periods. I like that time, every time since then, and now. I enjoyed my schooling, learned a tremendous amount but still know next to nothing of what there is to know; have an abundance of hands-on experience but very little in the scheme of things; met a fantastic person (woman), we got married and have a wonderful daughter; love my job, thankfully; I enjoy my comic book collection and my other hobbies; I love fishing, especially surf fishing; my wife, daughter, and I are healthy; I'm happy; life is good. Apparently, I'm easy to please.
  2. Looks gorgeous (brilliant white pages). I would love to purchase that collection and others like it but have not acquired a huge/large Silver and/or Bronze Ages collection since the mid-1990s, around 1995, when at least some folks that had amassed such collections just wanted to "get rid of this cra*" and sold their entire collection for relatively little because they, as did I, thought the comic books would perhaps be worth, at most, a few dollars each if that and, if so, when. In fact, and rightfully so, I and many others thought I (and other folks buying such) was a sucker for spending money on such collections because who wanted these comic books. I and others simply got, for now, extremely lucky. It may not last. However, I (and likely many) purchased these collections not to make money but because I love purchasing and owning comic books. I also recall collectors selling their Silver and/or Bronze Age collections to dealers (some long gone, like Sunshine Comics in Miami [originally around 66 or 65 Avenue on SW 40th St,/Bird Road; later stores, for a short while, in Hialeah, just off 826 North/Palmetto Expressway, and another in Perrine on US 1/South Dixie Hwy.) in south Florida for basically 25 cents or less per comic book and dealers placing them for sale cheap, from 50 cents to $1.00 for most with some priced at a whopping, for example, $20. In fact, I believe, if I recall correctly, that Joel, the owner of Sunshine Comics, sold his own Silver Age collection, possibly some Gold and Bronze Ages, in his store for a few dollars each in the 1980s. I believe most were mid-grade but still very nice. Those days, for now, are gone. Will they return? If they do, will it be worth to purchase such collections if one wants $? I don't know. Will it be worth it to just own the comic books? Always!
  3. "*** Quality Control. Give us time, perhaps more time, but, in the end, the bitter end, we'll get it right. Maybe. Perhaps not. But, hey, we tried. We sure did. Well, a little bit anyway. Yes, only once a month but, come on, we have better things to do. Yes, we do. *** Quality Control, a State of Mind. If you believe the case looks great, in spite of anything, than it does. Trust us, we do."
  4. If those were my copies I would have them in Mylar with acid-free backing in acid-free boxes as these appear to be regular bags and boards (I may be mistaken). If they are regular bags and boards it may still work perfectly as the comic books pictured look good and I have seen many and purchased a few collections stored as such, including in south and central FL, and the comic books and pages were, as they say, "just off the printer" (Edit: correction, "just off the printing press; publishers printing comic books on, for example, a Canon printer and hand stapling them ) with vibrant colors, cover gloss, and pristine white pages. Some of the comic books were stored 10, even 20, copies in large plastic bags with one backing board for about two comic books and the books were still gorgeous.
  5. ForgetEveryDeliveryEvenXists seems appropriate based on my general experience with FedEx for CGC shipments or otherwise. Perhaps 15 or slightly more years ago I would receive comic book shipments from, if I recall correctly, Westfield Comics in Madison, WI via DHL. DHL provided absolutely fantastic service and I greatly miss that company delivering to me.
  6. DCBS finally informed me yesterday (August 2, 2023), after hinting around the issue for quite a while, that the problem is that since I pay by check no one was notifying the individual that records payments received that my checks had been received and cashed. To say the least, I find that ridiculous since I have been ordering from DCBS for mostly, outside of when I switched my orders to Mail Order Comics for about two years because DCBS shipped far too many damaged comic books (of course, when they moved to Memphis [or was it Nashville], TN that was another world of damaged items in my experience), since around 2006 or early 2007. Of course, I have prepaid them every last penny for every order. Edit: I'll note that, of course, since DCBS failed to record that my payments had been cashed the company, naturally, held my shipments. I have never, and hope to never again, experience such for however much longer I purchase new comic books (Mail Order Comics and Westfield Comics, that were also paid by check, never failed in this manner). Of course, in the scheme of things this is a non-issue outside of paying for something you think you may never receive. I laud DCBS in that they credited $7.50 shipping cost to my account each (Total: $15) for my April and May 2023 orders for the missed shipments of August and November 2022. I will also seek to received $7.50 shipping each for the missed June and July 2023 shipments.
  7. "looking into it" From what I have read on the boards that likely means, as you may know, CGC will say something along the line of "It is not our fault. The submitter did not (fill in the blank). If that is the case, hopefully Mike will be able to assist you. I very much hope the matter is resolved to your satisfaction.
  8. That was great. I very much enjoyed reading each issue from cover to cover. I may eventually dig them out and read them all again.
  9. CGC ate my lunch and then had me buy them another one. They did not have to do that. No, really. I joke, since I have never submitted a comic book for pressing to CGC and/or to "get" a higher grade.
  10. If you have not done so, you may wish to telephone CGC and inquire and/or CGC Mike may be able to assist you.
  11. Currently, in my experience, there is far less demand for comic books containing the National Diamond Sales Insert and, consequently, the comic books containing them are not very sought after and, thus, the price folks are generally willing to pay for them are relatively low because I do not see copies with "high prices" selling but "low priced" ones do, give or take. Most of the copies I have seen are mid-grade. I purchased "many" copies long ago with NDSI at LCSs, very few high grade, for about $1.50 each, if I correctly recall, but no more than $2 each (I wrote that information down but my log is in another state), and some for around $0.25 as they were included in primarily VF/8.0 collections that I purchased. I never bothered to inquire where the sellers of the collections had acquired the issues with NDSI Of course, some things change so the prices folks are willing to pay for such copies may increase.
  12. This is what I'm hoping. I always very respectfully communicate with them and DCBS does likewise with me but, obviously, purchasing and receiving as established and paid for comic books is fun and, unfortunately, DCBS has kicked, stomped, and butchered the "fun" part for me especially since when they have missed shipments they send several boxes and, invariably, the amount of damaged comic books is far beyond the standard. Well, enough complaining.
  13. Reviving an old(e)r topic. Is any board member that is still ordering from DCBS experiencing frequent failure by it to ship monthly despite, of course, paying $7.50 for each monthly shipment? I'm inquiring because DCBS has failed to make four monthly shipments to me (two each in 2022 and 2023 - not shipping in June and July 2023) and its customer service, although it does reply occasionally to me, does not address DCBS' failure to make shipments. Thankfully, I order very little from DCBS and if it is experiencing any problems that can't be resolved my loss will not be severe. I am presently ordering around three comic books from DCBS to cover the $7.50 shipping cost, which is "money for nothing," and will be rapidly ending any business with DCBS, perhaps waiting years to get my final shipment or, more likely, a credit that I will never use. I'll end by noting that in my experience DCBS was very good, give or take, perhaps 15 or so years ago. Of course, I am a sucker for staying with DCBS after the bankruptcy of Mail Order Comics since DCBS took over MOC's pending orders. Well, live and learn.
  14. What you may wish to do is insert the certificate number in each of the slots you list, starting at the top. If CGC has correctly programmed them, only one will slot will accept the certificate number.
  15. Perhaps a film on the Action Jackson figure from the 1970s would as well.
  16. Yes, I recall during the 1980s into the, roughly, mid-1990s the LCS I visited almost all had available DC back issues, primarily Silver and Bronze Ages, of almost all titles for a few dollars, most often less than $10. I and others purchased a great many. Some copies that I purchased are 9.8 some 7.5. However, what I refer to in my earlier post is purchasing these off the newsstand, etc, when they were released/new. As I noted, my albeit limited empirical experience is that I and a great many others purchased them in multiples, stored them carefully and continue to do so, and are letting them "age." Clearly, we were not the only ones that did this, it was extremely likely repeated endlessly throughout the USA alone. Thus folks are sitting on these collections. Of course, perhaps many will never submit comic books to CGC for whatever reason/s so those copies may never be available for purchase by "CGC collectors" unless some such collections are purchased by individuals who do submit them. The copies that are submitted to CGC may change the landscape of these titles and, especially, specific issues if many are graded 9.8 and 9.6, perhaps 9.4 for some issues.
  17. Indeed, as Microchip and you note, sold prices for some of those issue is currently very high. Perhaps as has happened with many other issues for many runs, folks will (have) submit(ed) more to "catch the wave." On another note, referring again to DC 52 page issues (and otherwise), I have very rarely seen for about 20 years CGC graded Young Love and Young Romance issues for sale. Of course, it may be that, unfortunately, there is such little collector interest in those titles that folks who have them have not yet bothered to submit them to CGC.
  18. I have only been banned from my home. I have to speak to my wife about that. Okay, not serious (or is it). I don't recall ever being banned from a comic book venue. If I was, I have clearly blocked it out as it was very likely a very traumatic experience.
