  1. Mike of CGC likely knows or will. I have been sealing my open VHS boxes with Crazy Glue.
  2. Gnomes are awesome and they remind me of one of my neighbors, or is it the reverse. I'll also note that I don't know if my neighbor is awesome. I'll ask.
  3. A certain collection, that I will not name, comes to mind. Of course, one could argue, that their have been a few "certain" collections. My conspiracy cup runneth over today ... ... ... or does it.
  4. Thank you. Of course, my comment that folks who monthly submit in large volume and/or income may depend on sales of CGC graded comic books have their submissions processed faster implies that CGC gives some submissions special handling. Am I promoting a conspiracy? ... ... ... Yes! Darn, all my submissions just vanished.
  5. I may be incorrect since I have never been interested in on-site grading and, thus, have never bothered to check on it, but solely based on reading posts it may be that CGC did a lot more on-site grading in years past than currently; that may change. Of course, the pandemic likely played a role in this if my perception is correct.
  6. Based on posted comments, like yours, and the movement of my submissions, CGC's processing of submissions appears to have slowed down substantially in my experience from last month. Granted, some posters did note in months past that their submissions in, for example, the late lamented Economy tier, at least by me, in many instances took over a year to head back home. Of course, years ago, if I correctly recall, my Modern tier submissions took on average two months to complete. Factors such as CGC comic con attendance, of course, add time to the processing of many, but likely not all (e.g., folks who monthly submit in large volume and/or income may depend on sales of CGC graded comic books) submissions.
  7. Very nice comic books. I also purchase some collections (edit) here, there, really anywhere, that often include low grade reader copies but every now and then some higher grade (8.0 to 9.8) copies of books, including some keys, minor keys, and "hot" books. For me, however, and, very likely, you, it is simply about the fun of purchasing some books and enjoying them regardless of condition.
  8. First in, first out. Alternatively, flip a coin.
  9. Apparently, CGC barely has time to grade the comic books and magazines they currently have, including those received from Australia.
  10. Upon further reflection, CGC should change G/E/I to mean Gonna/Eventually/Imerge'.
  11. As one can imagine, CGC has received a great number of submissions, its intake process has slowed, both, or something (edit) else, I can think of a few things, has occurred.
  12. I do not. A 25 Modern Comic Book submission that is still in the CGC submission void.
  13. For many submissions CGC's posted turnaround times are a myth wrapped in a fantasy concealed in a bed time story.
  14. Interesting, the two magazines are still G/E/I but upon accessing the submission CGC has listed the wrong magazines. Specifically, they have listed for my submission two copies of France Creepy 1 3/69 Warren Publishing French Edition. I have to telephone CGC and will likely be informed that, in fact, I did submit French language magazines. Edit: For posterity!
  15. I have been on the NYC subway with very strange individuals. However, they have all been quite "normal" compared to some folks I met in OK and LA. Of course, all those individuals in NYC, OK, and LA very likely thought I was a weirdo and a half.
  16. I have not submitted an "expensive" comic book for grading in a few years and was planning to do either this month or in August. However, I will have to think further about submitting them. If I decide to do so, as I have done in the past with billing issues, if there are any problems with my submissions CGC can be certain that I will follow-up with them endlessly until the matter is resolved to my satisfaction since I will have fully met my "obligation" to CGC and I expect likewise from the company.
  17. I'll note that for new comic books I use Hot Flips Backing Boards (Silver/Reg Age) with Silver Age Comic Book Bags and find them of excellent quality and perfect for my need.
  18. Like lizards2, I have stacked my CGC graded comic boxes very high and after checking the slabs every couple of years, obviously I have nothing better to do, all the slabs are as I received them from CGC or otherwise.
  19. As concerns the new E. Gerber 35 mil thick Full-Backs, I'll note that I have many comic books stored with Half-Backs (24 mil) in Archives (4 mil) as well as BCE Thin-X-Tenders (24 mil) in Comic Gards (4 mil) (If I correctly recall, Comic Gards previously had another name circa 1980s and, I imagine, later) and have never experienced any "warping" of comic books. These comic books are stored in acid-free boxes, E. Gerber and BCE, and are packed just tight enough as are all my comic book boxes, acid-free and regular long and short boxes, that no comic books sags. I also place acid-free boards at each end of every acid-free box and thick regular boards in the regular boxes. Simply stated, all the comic books in a box support each other. Granted, all this may be overkill but it has worked for me since at least 1980. Lastly, I'll note that I have had some of these comic books graded and CGC has graded all of them 9.8 with white pages. Of course, there are probably some 9.6 and, shudder , 9.4 among them.
  20. Indeed. Every EG full-back that I have purchased, for decades (edit), has that curve. In fact, the approximately 8000 of them still packaged, I purchased in vast quantities from the mid-1990s to about 2015 with a few smaller purchases until about 2019, have that curve (the packages have always had that curve, never laying perfectly (edit) flat other than perhaps when supporting the weight of many other such packages). The same is true in my experience of BCE X-Tenders.
