Problem solved.

They look like old school photocopies.  Before digital photocopiers, the early machines used a powdery substance that didn't adhere to the paper very well and often had a chemical smell. It has to be handled carefully otherwise you get smudges.

It looks like the copies were of Don's pencils and lettered but before inks.  This gave editors a chance to make last minute changes to the art before it was inked.  The notations could be from Sol Brodsky.

While it is not original art, fans have an interest in seeing what the original pencils looks like. 

Think about Kirby Collector Magazine where photocopies of Jack's pencils are published.

The big $ will come from Austin's work on Sonic the Hedgehog.  

D***Blick bought out Utrecht so it's the same company.  The Itoya backpack goes for about $100.

The backpack recommended and battle tested by Glen works pretty well.  It also has a handle on the side and a shoulder strap so it is versatile.

I have only tested it out at home, not at a show.  It's definitely worth a look at $40.

If you are a fan of Erik's work,  just quietly buy as much of the art within your budget before prices go up.

You can't make a splash without fish.

A friend was using the Itoya brand backpack at NYCC.  He said it was life changing but admitted that at the end of the day, his back hurt.  

I'm not sure how many pounds he was lugging but he did have a lot of art with him.

Mylars and backing boards are deceptively heavy.

I didn't find anything in terms of art.  For comics however, Midtown Comics in NYC. was having a 20% off sale on comics.

Better than nothing.  Lol.

I was looking at the Jim Lee backpack and the Brinch backpack recommended by CC.  I am hoping to find a carry-on bag where I can fit an itoya 13x19 portfolio, enough clothes and misc electronics where I can attend a comic con for a long weekend without checking in a bag or luggage.  I even looked at the Amazon Basics backpack.

I would leave clothes and electronics at the hotel and just carry the backpack and itoya at the show.

PIH has a special viewing of approximately 40 pieces.  Unfortunately, the original Wrightson Frankenstein piece will not make the trip from the West Coast.  However, a high quality giclee of it is expected to be there for viewing.

This is being arranged through fellow CGC boardie, Rob Pistella.  Rob is also the curator / consultant for many of the comic art exhibits at the Society of Illustrators in NYC.

The Valkyrie, Hulk, Silver Surfer have all been introduced in various movies.  Why not bring them together and introduce a new trilogy featuring a new super team?

The more successful shows in NYC recognize that most NYers do not own a car and rely on public transportation.

Since the days of Creation (Con) and Phil Seuling's shows, the transportation hub around West 34th Street / Penn Station have been key.

Easily accessible by subway, bus, LIRR (Long Island suburbs), NJ Transit and nearby Metro North trains.

Even the East Coast Con in NJ is easily accessible by bus from Times Square Port Authority.

Maximum attendees means more $ for promoters which is why shows will continue to be located near midtown Manhattan or transportation hubs.

Nick and I considered setting up but I think it's a rough go right after HA auctions and right before the holidays.  

Sometimes, it's what space is available for rent.

I've never been fast enough either.  I like to take my time especially online.  Sometimes the original looks vastly different than the published image because of the coloring.

I would take the Tradd Moore Silver Surfer cover at $8K over the Ryan Stegman Carnage cover at $15K.  I say this as a fan of Carnage and Ryan Stegman.  Let's face it, who wouldn't want the extra $7K to buy more art.  Lol.

Ironically, the only Tradd Moore art I've been able to purchase was when Tradd was still being repped by Cadence Comic Art, (whom I've had no issue with at all over the years).
