  1. Not sure about other boardies' opinions here, but what say you as to which is the stronger auction result here......................this CL 6.0 copy of Mask 1 that sold for $27,761 or the CC 7.5 copy of Mask 1 that sold for $54,625 only last Thursday: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1006346
  2. I believe this goes to confirm my previous point which I had stated in my above post the other day:
  3. If I remember correctly, you are most likely referring to this Twilight pedigree copy of Marvel Comics 1 which Richard auctioned off on CC back in 2017 after he had some unfortunate weather related disaster that hit his store: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/744183 Looks like it sold for $215K back in 2017 which was probably seen as a relatively strong price back then, although copies of Marvel 1 like other top collectibles did also sell for significantly more during the crypto-like crazed Covid time period
  4. Yep, looks like that's the one as the post is from April 2019 and states that it was just freshly slabbed (i.e. March 19 of 2019). Also not sure if it sold or not, but nevertheless a nice strong bump up from the $1,500 asking price back in 2019 all the way up to $3,600 last Friday even though I would have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of the back cover visuals on this copy here, but it is what it is: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1010467
  5. Do you have a link to the "Comics Market" transaction as I am curious as to what it sold for back then?
  6. This Schomburg airbrush mid-grade copy of Wonder 15 also finished up strongly at $3,600 although nowhere near as surprisingly off the charts as the Wonder 13, given the noted defects and comparative historical valuations for these two books: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1010467
  7. Yes, will definitely be interesting to see what happens with the Suspense 4 since that is INDEED a tough book to find in grade and this is the 2nd highest graded copy and also a pedigree copy to boot.
  8. Will have to wait until the the Fat Lady gets off her duff to sing, but interesting to note that Mask 2 has seemingly pretty much caught up or come close to Mask 1 in terms of valuations based upon auction results we've seen in the past couple of years or so.
  9. Wow, looks like a suprisingly strong result here on this copy of Wonder 13, especially considering that the tears on multiple pages were significant enough for CGC to denote on their label: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1010465 Sold for what I thought was a very very strong $3,500 for this condition grade and significantly higher than what an much nicer visually presenting equivalent 6.5 graded copy with better PQ and no qualifying tear defects was able to fetch for only $1,455 back in May of 2020. Not sure if this is just an outlier or the latest hottest new book in terms of this fast moving marketplace that the speculators have decided to latch onto when it comes to the Schomburg airbrush covers.
  10. As per @GM8's post below, you would be incorrect here as CC's sale price of $155,250 ALREADY includes the 15% BP since the auction is now already over with the FINAL result now posted: It means the CC "hammer" price on the book was only $135K and the 15% BP juice brought it up to $155,250. Looks like the CL copy is still stuck at $106K which is actually not surprising consider that CL's customer base loves to use last second sniping to try to toss a Hail Mary bid to win their book. Needless to say, consignors absolutely love it when they can get more than one bidder throwing these Hail Mary type bids in at the last second.
  11. What.................more Promise Collection books in this auction here?
  12. Not over zealous from my POV as that is an early Timely issue and GA prices from 2020 is like a lifetime away in this Covid infected marketplace. In addition, this is a GA Timely book with a super rare Churchill cover appearance and how many Churchill covers have we seen in comparison to Hitler covers and we know how super hot those books are in the marketplace.
  13. When you are bidding live, the auctioneer only calls out the "hammer'" bid (i.e. without the 20% BP) and I don't believe there is anything inside the room to show you what the total bid is including the 20%. Best is to hear from a boardie who has actually attended a live Heritage Auction in person and paid attention to the actual bidding. The only one I ever attended was down at the SD Con where they had over 100,000 fans in attendance, but could draw only less than 20 of them to attend the actual auction itself where the number of Heritage employees seemingly outnumbered the number of bidders there. Lots of refreshments and snacks outside the bidding room with so few actual attendees.
  14. Similarly with Heritage when you are bidding live as the auctioneer's price does not yet include the 20% BP which gets added in at the end.
  15. From the cover image and publication date of Fall 1944 for Subby 14, it would also appear to be a current real time historic depiction of the real life D-Day landing that actually took place on the beaches of Normandy on June 6 of 1944. Only problem is that it's not denoted as such in the Overstreet guide and probably as a result, it then is also not recognized as such by CGC and the various auction houses in their listing description. From a historic WWII cover POV, I noticed they had 2 copies of the fictional Churchill attempted assassination cover from Subby 3 in this auction: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1003669 Not sure if having two copies of the same book might have held their prices back a bit. Probably not though as the mid-grade CGC 5.5 copy finished up at just over $6.5K while the above higher graded 7.5 copy finished up at a seemingly stong $10,019 which was more than the $7,200 that this exact same copy of Subby 3 was able to fetched on Heritage back at the end of 2020.
  16. Well at $62.5K, I would definitely agree with you here with a DOUBLE WOW or is it a DOUBLE , especially considering that there's 12 other copies in equivalent or higher grade than this copy here. , the money that is.
  17. Well, with the 15% BP in place, I guess it's definitely more enticing for the consignor to pay only something like 8.7% for their auction fees instead of the standard 10% fee for both CC and CL or however more that Heritage would charge you. Then again, like some others have already stated here, thye just might be less tempted to bid when they see this 15% BP in the auction listing description. Not sure if it's being targeted for the less desireable books, as it seems to be in place more so for the larger collections and/or "quality" books.
  18. Sadly, not the same kind of support for Jackpot 4 which finished at only $9,315 when others in this same grade used to go for north of $10K: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1009600 I remember when this book first catapulted itself into Overstreet's Top 100 chart seemingly from nowhere about 8 years ago on speculation that it might have been tied with Pep 22 for the first appearance of Archie. Now that's it's seen as either the second or possibly even the third appearance of our favorite red-head teen, it has clearly lost momentum during the past few years and finally fell off from Overstreet's Top 100 chart with the new guide released this year.
  19. Wow, nice to see your sleuthing skills at work and able to match up these CGC 9.8 TMNT 1 results on the competing platforms. Let's not forget the groundbreaking $90K Heritage auction back in August of 2019 which seemingly laid the groundwork for these subsequent sales into the $50K to $65K price range after the book was stuck in the mid-$30K rut for the two years prior to that: https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/alternative-underground/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7211-91091.s?ic16=ViewItem-Auction-Open-PreviousPricesHeritage-081514# Were all of these from auction sales except for the CC result for $59K April of 2020 which was a low profile non-auction private sale of the exact same $90K Heritage copy from August of 2019 that started off this whole price acceleration for not only TMNT 1, but for all of the early TMNT books? Definitely interesting to also see the big move up from the $60K price point right up into the $200K territory and wondering if there were some other intervening auction results which propel the book to make such an astonomical jump besides the so-called "stuck at home free government money Covid factor" which no doubt helped to push prices of all collectibles up temporarily?
  20. Yes, I would also tend to agree with you that a CGC 6.5 copy of Suspense might not reach this same $33K price point, especially since the CGC 9.2 graded copy was able to fetch only $60K back in 2021. Then again, I somehow suspect that if the Promise Collection copy of Suspense 8 shouldre-enter the marketplace again, it's a pretty safe bet that it will be one of the few Promise retread copy winners to come back to market. Especially with somebody getting an accepted offer from an asking price of $74,999.95 (if a real eBay transaction) for a CGC 8.0 copy of ST11 even with 13 copies in CGC 8.0 or above, while the Suspense 8 has only this one single Highest graded 9.2 Promise copy in CGC 8.0 or above. As for that CGC 6.5 graded copy of Susense 8, looks like it was auctioned off for only a piddly $1,272 back in 2013. Then again, maybe both of these books took off like a rocket since the pre-pandemic times since STT 11 was also not going great guns at only $776.75 for a CGC 5.0 copy back in 2015 and $1,971.75 for a much higher graded 8.0 copy of STT 11 back in 2013. Then again, this $33K sale of the STT 11 on CC could also possibly be really more of an outlier (although I personally don't think so) since Heritage was able to fetch only $15,600 for their equivalent 6.5 graded copy of STT 11 back just in October of last year.
  21. From a buyer's bidding POV, I actually don't tend to find it that confusing as long as you can differentiate the lots with the 15% BP from the ones that don't have a BP on them, and I feel that their 3-minute extended bidding time periods gives you more than enough time to do this simple calculation. If I remember correctly, it looks like this 15% BP started with the Quick Draw Western collection which they got consigned to them a couple of years ago and this was then followed up by the Kentucky Collection. Looks like it's just another way for them to try to compete with the big boys at Heritage by offering potential consignors with "quality" collections or "quality" books to squeeze out an extra percentage point or so off from their standard 10% auction fee.
  22. Well, if you are smart, it's best NOT to get on Putin's bad side before you board a plane with your prized books.
  23. Any opinions as to which one of these L.B. Cole classic spider covers would be worth more in today's marketplace if in equivalent grade: Woud it be the later CGC 6.5 graded copy of STT 11 from 1952 that just sold for $33,350 or say an equivalent graded 6.5 copy of Suspense 8 from 1945 with his earlier orignal take on the "spider" cover?
  24. I was hoping for President's Choice. Do you mean Strawberry Red or dare I even say do you mean Strawberry Blond?
  25. How DARE you try to jinx and apply the finger of doom to this wonderful collection of books and the lucky collectors who won them.
