  1. Yeah I was watching and cringing too. Someone had taken quite a bit of care protecting those books. Yes, sort of reminds me of that rather cringe worthy, but definitely enlightening and eye-opening video from CGC of Matt doing the page count on the Superman 1. That one there was compariatively worse, considering that it was a Supes 1 and the boys at CGC are supposed to know how to handle a book. Especially if that's what they do when the cameras are rolling, imagine the manhandling that takes place when the cameras are off. Makes me wonder if that's possibly why some submittors have been complaining about graded slabs coming back with detached centerfolds when they thought their books were fine when first sent in.
  2. Well, if you want an interview with THE MAN himself, it sounds as though you are going to have to buy a copy of the Overstreet #1 Facsimilie Edition as it apparently has an extensive interview in there with Overstreet: Looks like it might have to be the softcover version for you though as all of the hardcovers and various Limited Signed Editions are apparently all sold out already.
  3. I would definitely agree with you in terms of the comic books themselves, especially with respect to the ones that were already marked as only being in VF/NM condition. Now, those comic book covers in the binders definitely look pristine fresh and glossy as though they just came right off the printing press.
  4. Yeah that’s the highest graded of only 2 copies so it went for a bit of a premium. In general Albedo 2 in comparable grade to Cerebus 1 is selling for quite a bit more How can you tell when it seems that the last sales in a specific grade for some of these copies of Cerebus 1 were years ago and prices would have increased substantially since that last sale?
  5. Are you really trying to tell me that Fawcetts are finally starting to wake up from their multi-decades long coma and no longer on life support?
  6. From watching the video and see how each box was clearly marked with each individual book within the various boxes boarded, bagged, graded, sorted, and clearly dentified, it is obvious to me that the OO was a true comic book collector who spent a lot of loving time compiling and putting this collection together. I somehow highly doubt that this collection of comic books and the rest of the treasured collectibles was sold off by the OO, and more likely sold off by somebody else who was lucky enough to come into possession of it and didn't care about the contents at all. Definitely sad if this is actually the case as it would appear that accepting any money for it, even though it was most likely only pennies on the dollar was alright for whoever decided to dispose of it.
  7. No problem at all.................it's all yours for a cool $100 grand as I am sure that Pat can be convinced to let it go at that price point.
  8. Unless of course there's a bunch of Rifleman #10s... Well, that big and long one there for sure plus Rawhide Kid 17. From watching the video, it looks like he didn't really take a close look as he had no detailed idea of what was even in the boxes before he got all of the boxes back home after closing the deal.
  9. Unfortunately, as I've said a few times in the past already...............in today's red hot robust vintage collectible comic book marketplace, it's a whole lot harder to sell a thousand $10 books, as opposed to selling just one $10,000 comic book.
  10. Love ALL GA Batman, not just the first books. Especially when they are in super high grade. So, are you really trying to tell me that you weren't the third time lucky winner of the CGC 1.0 graded copy of 'Tec 31 that sold the other day at Heritage for $43,200? Looks like this exact same copy ended up finishing slightly lower than the last 2 times it sold at CC back in 2016 and again in 2017. Definitely nothing compared to that steal of a deal in terms of your gorgeous pre-Robin 'Tec you picked up earlier this year.
  11. please post, thank you Unfortunately, you will need to ask Pat for the graded scans since the only photos which I have for these books are when they were still in raw condition. Not sure if you are interested in raw condition photos, but here they are for whatever it's worth: Personally, I prefer the Bat 41 with the black cover and probably aso because I don't care too much for the pencilled in distributor marking and the arrival date on the Bat 36. Now, if it was the Chinese character(s) that's synonymous with this Chinatown pedigree, then that's an entirely different story. Not sure about the slight dust shadow on the Bat 41 as grading standards have changed over the years and I believe Matt and the current grading regime at CGC are harsher when it comes to dust shadows as compared to 13 years ago when West and Borock were still there calling the shots. Nevertheless, still an absolutely gprgeous copy from my own personal point of view.
  12. Wow, good for you as I never realize that you were the type of collector to hold onto your books for such an extended period of time. Before you know it, you'll end up picking up my bad habit of holding onto my books forever. Do you have any pre-CGC raw vintage collectible books (i.e. not off the shelf copies) that you owned in your collection that's already hit the 20-year mark?
  13. In this particular situation, I believe it's pretty much a done deal and the sale is pending only because the resale was done so quickly that they simply haven't had the time to cross all of the "t's" and dot all of the "i's" yet. A resale this quickly makes me wonder why in the world would the eventual second buyer simply not bother to bid on the book in the first place themselves since the auction took place only 1 day earlier? Although this must definitely be a record for the fastest resale through the HA Make Offer to Owner feature, it still doesn't beat the CGC 8.5 graded copy of All-Star 3 that was won for only $49,293.75 and then resold a week later for $200,000: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/all-star-comics-3-billy-wright-pedigree-dc-1940-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7054-91043.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Ahhh.........to live the lavish, but rather short life of an embezzler.
  14. very nice ! Hey Peter; Why are you hanging around this thread here since there are no pre-Robin 'Tec books hiding in this particular collection? If it's just for the high grade Bat books, try asking Pat for photos of the Bat 36 or 41 issues since those were graded right up there.
  15. Looks like my way over condition guide bid of $1,800 wasn't enough to snag this supposedly scarce copy of Negro Romance 4 which sold for $6,600: I would have bidded higher (but still would have lost), but this copy here didn't present as nice as the CGC 7.0 graded copy which sold for $6,572.50 late last year.
  16. You are most definitely right as I assume it must get pretty roasty HOT on the surface of the sun there. Similar in vein to the Thrilling 41 Hitler cover, probably one of my favorites have always been America's Best #7 with Hitler and his gang hiding under the desk. Here's a picture of another funny Hitler cover that's not seen as often and one that I was hoping to acquire one day given it's more affordable relatively lower graded condition, but it would be much easier to get blood from a stone:
  17. Talking about Commandos, I though Boy Commandos had been pretty much of a dead S&K title, but this copy here did quite well finishing up at $9,600: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/war/boy-commandos-2-mile-high-pedigree-dc-1943-cgc-nm-94-white-pages/a/7234-92031.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Archive-ThisAuction-120115 Once again, another highest graded (or tied for) Church Hitler cover, but then again, it's a Boy Commandos book. So, if this current comic book marketplace is so red hot as evident by some of these prices which we have been seeing lately, maybe even the long dead Fawcetts might be resuscitated and be able to come out of their multi decades long coma.
  18. I would most definitely agree with you here. Since nobody else bothered to mention this one here, am I the only one that's shock this book sold for $40,800: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/thrilling-comics-41-mile-high-pedigree-better-publications-1944-cgc-nm-92-white-pages/a/7234-92085.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Archive-ThisAuction-120115 Sure, it's a Church copy of a classic Hitler cover, but $40,800 is still an awful lot of moolah to be spending on a non-key book.
  19. Looks like this copy of 'Tec 31 just can't seem to get past the $43K to $44K price point: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/detective-comics-31-dc-1939-cgc-fr-10-off-white-pages/a/7234-92042.s Sold once again for $43,200 as compared to its previous sale price of $43,505 back in 2016 and once again for $44K in 2017 with both of these on the CC auction website.
  20. Just watching the live auction on some of these Batman books and it looks like this auctioneer of theirs is doing a pretty good job at getting bidders to keep throwing in some additional last minute bids.
  21. Richard; I believe this comment would apply much more to you.............you, hoarder, you!!!
  22. Does anybody every hold onto their books anymore, or is it only collectors/dealers like Pat with his now officially and newest CGC recognized Chinatown pedigree which he has held onto for more than 2 decades and still counting.
  23. Well, at least the 'Tec 38 is from one of the long recognized and estsblished GA pedigrees in terms of the Larson while the earlier and harder to find 'Tec 29 is not. Looks like somebody must have made a lot of money on the Larson 'Tec at $86,400 as it first sold for $11,500 back in 2002 and then resold for $16,100 in 2005.
  24. You need to put your funny cap on this morning as you seem to be missing the ongoing scarasm from both Sean and myself with respect to the relative Overstreet prices on books such as Bat 1, Cap 1, and AA 16.
  25. Not sure what you mean by your comment here. Thank God I just picked up a copy of the new price guide.........let me go check it out and I am sure I'll be able to figure out what you meant.
