  1. But no where near as important as Batman #1 IMO. Agree with you about the rarity mystique being gone. 1st Golden Age GL - meh... I hope all of you guys realize that was only a 1-year blip last year in 2019 since Overstreet 49 was the only edition where Bat 1 was ahead of AA 16 in his Top 100 chart. With this year's edition of the guide, the Top 5 GA books have now simply returned back to their normal historical rankings.
  2. Yes, this is a much better forum to discuss the Overstreet Price Guide, as compared to the Water Cooler where I had posted the following response to you original post:
  3. Then again, there's the hugmonus drop in the Nasdaq for today as speculators are probably cashing in some of their profits in advance of the big Heritage Auction ending next week.
  4. Yes, by skimming though the pages for the various market reports, this seem to have been a very obvious tactic that was taken as no contributors had those huge multi-page reports like in previous editions of the guide. Especially in the case of Doug Sulipa....................didn't he used to hape 20+ pages for his own market report at one time, athough he has been cutting them back in size for the ast few years? He must have listed every single frigging book that he sold, although he did provide (probably unnecessary) details for almost every single publisher and/or comic book genre out there. It was almost like an actual marathon to go through one of his market reports as I would have to spread the "joy" over a few days.
  5. I think I've been saying this for the past 10 years running... Pretty much the same feeling which I have, except for the following cover which I thought was a real beauty for an Overstreet cover:
  6. Well, he does have a Covid-19 Impact Update right at the front of his own summary and the Advisors' market reports about the pandemic and that rreaders should take this into consideration when reading the market reports. Looks like this is probably the one and only single thing (okay....probably not even this) that he wrote in the guide as even his own summary report are selected excerpts from his various advisors' market reports.
  7. Can somebody explain why eBay is allowed to list the original Ask price as the so-called Sold Price" when the book clearly did NOT sell for that price? Especially when doing it this way seems to be deliberately misleading.
  8. Thank god! Can't wait to see what my books are worth Well, for what it's worth, today was September 2nd and the new Overstreet Price Guide was indeed available at your LCS. Took a quick skim through it and it appears to be pretty much the same old, same old, with slow Bob's usual miniscule price increases , although I did notice that the top of guide for Mask 1 did rocket from $8K all the way up to $20K. Somebody must have lit a fire under his butt to get that kind of a response from Bob for that one there.
  9. In this climate i would say yes Well, with the 3 major indicies all at record highs and after a pretty sharp and fast V shaped recovery, the correct answer a short 4 months later is NO.
  10. Well, looks like old slow Bob must have noticed the huge prices being paid for Mask 1 as he went and jacked the top of guide price from $8K in last year's edition of the guide all the way up to $20K in this year's edition of the guide. Hopefully, it's doesn't kill the interest in demand for this book similar to what happened with Mystery Men 1 when he jacked it up from $2,100 all the way up to $8,500 back in the mid 90's. I guess buyers always seem to be willing to pay more for things that are still seen to be undervalued, as opposed to something that is closer to being fully valued with less room to go up. I would assume it shouldn't in today's marketplace with the internet whereby information is so much faster and more real time with GPA, GoCollect, eBay, etc.
  11. How did I miss this in 2011??? Especially with L.B. Cole's current red hot popularity in the marketplace toady, it should probably have no problem beating that record almost $18K price from way back in 2007.
  12. Same here for me. Back before the days of the internet and boards here, I still remember the market reports were my go to must read when it came to the price guide. Definitely not the case anymore, as evident by the fact th at I just managed to trudged my way through the last one this past weekend just so that they would all be done before the new guide came out this week.
  13. Wow, that looks like a pretty pristine copy of the first Overstreet price guide from way back in 1970. Surprsied to see one in what appears to be pretty immaculate condition and was wondering how long you've had this copy for?
  14. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to say something like this. 2 posts in, right on time. Well, for all you lucky boardies here, although Overstreet cut the market reports back by a whopping 60 pages (i.e. from 140 pages back down to only 80 pages) for this years edition of the guide, it looks you are will still be blessed with a report from Dylan if you are referring to Dylan Schwartz from Dylan Universe Comics. Skimmed his market report and it looks like his 2 so-called undervalued picks are Cap Annual #8 and Marvel Team-Up #62, for what that's worth. He then goes on to say that Barks Duck books was so expensive 35 years ago, but could be the next horror, Matt Baker, or L.B.Cole craze since they are currently at all-time lows. Based upon Dylan's standing here on the boards, I guess everybody's going to rush out now and load up on these specific books then.
  15. lotta those on here, and also plenty cheerleaders that dont like seeing their idol(s) receive the occasional butt hurt Yes, especially sad when it's just one short sentence phrased as a very obvious joke followed by the emoji.
  16. I've heard of him. Is he still actively collecting, do we know? Not actively anymore as far as I am aware, after the unveiling of his Impossible Collection at the St. Pancras Hotel in London back in March of 2016: https://www.yahoo.com/news/impossible-collection-billionaire-ayman-hariri-183952422.html?ref=gs
  17. Well, speaking from personal experience and after just spending a whole week's vacation in the CGC sin bin, pretty much anything can be deemed to be political nowadays. I guess it really depends if you've upset those little crybabies on the boards here who's always crying for their mommy and keeps humping that button on the top right of your post.
  18. Well, if this is the copy that you are referring to and with a cover like that plus its rarity with only 6 graded copies so far to date, you really had nothing to worry about right from the get go: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/867960 Looks like it sold for $3,500 and with a total of 44 bids on the book by the time it was all said and done, it definitely must have been prolonged excitement and fun to watch as a consignor. Especially since I am quite sure that it must have gone on for quite an extended time with a lot of hits on the auction clock resetting the time back to the 3-minute mark.
  19. For a transaction that's more than a year old.
  20. Sounds as though you must be an old school collector like me who doesn't see any point in grading and slabbing their books until it's time to sell them. In sharp contrast to the younger CGC generation of collectors who thinks that all books should be pressed, graded, and slabbed before going into their collection. I guess it's really a case of to each their own, as everybody enjoys collecting in their own unique way and as long as you are still having fun while doing it.
  21. Awesome, so the next question is.... how do I add it to my collection? Well, I believe you just might have to be a good little boy for much much longer and possibly pray even harder than you've been praying. Seriously though, I probably shouldn't say too much since this is really Pat's well earned and much deserved moment to enjoy the fame and recognition of this collection, especially considering he had the fortitude to hold onto it virtually intact for all these decades.
  22. Well, you just never know as this could become the lastest thing, especially since sometimes the sum of the parts might just be worth more than the whole.
  23. That's an awesome cover! Yes, but I imagine it's still not $22K worth of awesomeness?
  24. Hey Sharon; So, hopefully everything went alright with you in terms of your consignment by the time it's all said and done. With most of these auctions, you never really know sometimes until the hammer comes down or in this case here, when the clock clicks down to zero. Especially in the case of the CC Event Auction format where most of the action happens on the last day and oftentimes, you can see even a doubling or tripling in price. Like usual, although a few lots may slightly disappoint in your consignment, there's usually also a few other lots that tends to outperform by a large margin. Especially if you are lucky enough to have 2 bidders that's really going at it and hitting that button during the 3-minute extended bidding sessions. Bottom-line, if you end up doing better than your initial expectations on the entire consignment as a whole, you really can't complain too much then.
  25. Well, from seeing some of the absolutely gorgeous books which you have posted on these boards for our viewing pleasure, you are clearly an astute collector with sharp eyes when it comes to the classic cover books. Now, that the MLJ books have finally arisen from their death bed after all these long years, do you think you can do anything at all about some of these Fawcett books or are they already too far gone and beyond help by now.
