  1. That would be a new ceiling price for that book. Everyone is going to be comfortable bidding under that price, simply because they know they're paying less than the 90k, and they're not breaking new ground. Those prices that I was referring to in terms of the 6-figures SS 1 and the $90K SS4 were of course for CGC 9.8 graded copies, not CGC 9.6.
  2. From my own personal POV like I've always said, it's never ever really a case of one size fits all, especially after factoring in the fees. Each one of the auction houses have their own specialized client base which targets certain books, and often times, it's also a matter of timing and luck in terms of just having the right eyeballs on an auction at the right time.
  3. So, are you saying the day of 6-figures for Silver Surfer 1 and $90K for Silver Surfer 4 are over and done with for good for the speculators, or simply pushed further down the line for collectors who don't mind waiting at all?
  4. I would be surprised. Didn't they just raise many of the valuations in the last guide? Yes, rather shockingly and very un-Overstreet like, he raised many of them by huge double digit percentages and even some by triple digit percentages. Now that some of the formerly Covid red hot, but readily available BA and CA books are selling at 50% of guide, not sure if he'll drop them in his guide. I guess we'll just have to wait until next month to see what he does with some of those books. Not a problem YET with the GA books that he jacked up by double and triple digit percentages because as far as I can tell, they are still selling far above their iguide valuations even after their large percentage increases.
  5. A bit of the same scenario for the CGC 2.0 copy of Bat 1 selling for $176.5K when CC had sold a slighly higher graded CGC 2.5 copy for $270K back in March of 2022, albeit the scarcer "No Dot" version which might have helped to bump up the price a bit: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/946200 Then again, a pretty impressive result when compared to Heritage's slightly lower CGC 1.8 graded copies which they sold for only $126K and $$144K back in January and March respectively of this 2023 year.
  6. I believe you fail to completely understand the part which I have highlighted for you in bold. Especially when we've seen in these major auctions that the final price have often gone multiples higher than 2 days prior to the auction hammer coming down. In fact, in some cases the fat lady hasn't even entered the building yet at this point, let along get off her big fat duff to sing.
  7. Don't really know that much about the sports card market myself, but is there a vintage portion of their market similar to the GA here in the comic book marketplace that is actually not only holding up but still continuing to move upwards? No doubt, I am not at all surprised that the manufactured collectibles portion of the current sports card marketplace have taken a huge plunge.
  8. As I suspect would also be the exact same scenario with most of the longer term collectors in the hobby place. Which then only goes to reinforce my thinking that it's kind of insane to see the crazy multiples that are sometimes being paid for a book only one grade increment higher, simply because bidders are relying on the census to be relatively accurate when in actual fact, they are probably nowhere near to being complete when it comes to the higher condition grades.
  9. Well then, here's their big chance, especially if they are into the very early Funny Pictures Stories as these are due to close in HA's Signature Auction next Saturday on the 24th: https://comics.ha.com/c/search-results.zx?N=52+794+793+792+4294940576&Ntk=SI_Titles-Desc&Nty=1&Ntt=funny+picture+stories+&limitTo=4294940576&ic=homepage-search-A-K-Y-071316 Not exactly sure what the Supplements are as they are not listed in the guide, but I imagine somebody here like @G.A.tor would know.
  10. Honest truth, it would not surprised me in the least if we found out that the boys at Metro was the winner here in repurchasing the book. No doubt to then see it either in a subsequent CC Event Auction further down the line or more likely Vinnie making another announcement that they had successfully "placed" and sold another copy of Supes 1 at a record price ABOVE $2.6M to a lucky buyer. Especially since history has shown us that they seem to be on either the buying or selling end of the transactions when it comes to big early GA keys like Action 1 or Supes 1. Even more so when it comes to the record setting transactions, and wouldn't this one right here qualify as it must be the largest record loss by far for a single book for the consignor of this copy here. Reminds me a bit of the time when Geppi brough back the Pay Copy of Marvel Comics 1 from Parrino at a fraction of the price which he had sold it to him for.
  11. Were you a condition conscious type of collector back then when you were buying your BA books off the shelves or more of a reader type of collector who read then and then tossed them into the box in the corner of your room?
  12. Sadly, even though I am NOT a Supes 1 owner , I would still tend to agree with this sentiment when it comes to the vintage comic book market. Especially when you are talking about the big key GA books, as I had already alluded to in another thread on the boards here:
  13. I assume you would be referring to this $2.6M+ auction result for the EXACT SAME COPY of Supes 1 here in the December 2021 Event Auction: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/937190 All I will say is that CC and Metro with Fishler and his long established contacts is a completely different animal than the Goldin auction platform.
  14. Probably the EXACT reason why CGC doesn't differentiate between the various printings because they really can't tell and don't want to guess. Hence, the best solution is the one proposed below because it really should make a difference and the just let the marketplace itself decide:
  15. Well, I guess this goes to counter the point made by many that Overstreet is always low when it comes to his price guide valuations since he has X-Men 94 listed at $3K in top of guide 9.2 condition. Any bets that he's going to simply pause his valuation at $3K in his new guide due out next month, as opposed to actually dropping the valuation as that seems to be something which he absolutely abhors doing.
  16. You definitely can't go wrong with this book here, especially if you are into DC, as this book here talks about the origins of DC and the men (eg. Jack Liebowitz) who started and built up this comic book publishing company into the powerhouse that it eventually became.
  17. Although there appears to be some softening even with some of the GA books in today's marketplace, doesn't appear to be the case for the Centaurs so far: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/science-fiction/amazing-mystery-funnies-v2-4-cosmic-aeroplane-pedigree-centaur-1939-cgc-vg-45-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/122324-13017.s?type=lotlink--bidnotice-tracked-dailystatus Sold for what I thought was a relatively strong price of $5,280 for a CGC 4.5 graded copy of this relatively HTF and in demand early Amazing Mystery Funnies in yesterday's Sunday GA weekend auction.
  18. Sadly, it looks like there's also not much love for its earlier incarnation in terms of the Savage Tales magazine with the Conan stories: https://comics.ha.com/itm/magazines/superhero/savage-tales-3-marvel-1974-cgc-nm-94-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122324-13207.s?type=lotlink--bidnotice-dailystatus I highly doubt the consignor of this HG copy here of Savage Tales 3 would have even gotten their slabbing costs back as it sold for only $59, based upon a hammer bid of $30 plus $29 for the Heritage BP juice. So, after factoring in the Heritage Seller's Premium plus shipping, was the consignor even able to get back any money at all on his copy here?
  19. Yes, I believe so, especially after she stole than all while he was half asleep and in a drunken stupor one night: Ah.................those days of sweet innocence when young love was so great.
  20. Thought this copy here might have had a chance of hitting over the $3K threshold mark, but looks like it still came in pretty close at $2,880: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/science-fiction/famous-funnies-212-eastern-color-1954-cgc-vg-40-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122324-13076.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 Still, a very strong price considering that it took higher graded CGC 5.5 and 6.0 graded copies to hit over the $3K mark during the pandemic bubble of 2021 and this $2,880 price point for this nicely presenting copy was clearly higher than the $1,020 and $1,440 that a CGC 2.5 and CBCS 3.0 graded copies respectively were able to fetched earlier this year.
  21. Yes, like the HA archives except the CC one is sorted in descending order by CGC grade, as opposed to HA's descending order by price. You simply have to input the book you want to see at he top, check the "Search Sold Items" box, and then hit the "Submit" button.
  22. A simple matter of less than a minute to check their auction archives to see that it sold for $6,533: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/996914
  23. Well, if the Nintendo Power issues can hit 6-figures, is there any chance that the early Heavy Metal's in grade might hit 4-figures? Although I would somehow highly doubt it, considering that the Heavy Metal magazines was probably more in vogue with collectors back then, whereas the Nintendo Power magazine was really brought more by readers and game users.
  24. Looks like we got the answer to your question here, although it's probably really still a case of to each their own. Especially since although $108K might seem like a pot of gold to some here, it might just be pocket change to some others here: https://comics.ha.com/itm/magazines/nintendo-power-1-nintendo-of-america-inc-1988-newsstand-edition-cgc-98-nm-mt-white-pages/a/7307-28080.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  25. Any breakdown to the descent by ages in terms of GA, SA, BA, CA, etc. so that we have a better idea where the biggest drops are taking place?
