wouldn't all the outbid emails be a good indicator? but now that you mention it, I didn't get any emails auctions end Rick; Maybe you should contact them and ask them for the scoop on why there are no communications for this particular auction? Best to do it before Friday though when that gorgeous and HTF World's Finest run from the early 50's is set to hit the 3-minute buzzer.

Were all 3 of these early AMF's all in high grade condition, or was it just the AMF #3? Either way, it sounds as though all of your guys got somce fantastic books here.

Be warned, the way this thread is going, all of your guys are either going to be sent to the penalty box to spend some time comtemplating what you are saying here. Well, probably not that bad, but will most likely be given a courtesy warning based upon your negative comments to date. -

Full disclosure, this was at least 2-3 years ago. So, hopefully it was all a part of the learning and transition process and they did resolved the issues as I believe Matt transferred over sometime around 2016 or thereabouts. -

Well, all I can say is that anybody who wants to get their comments in better do it now because I am 100% sure that the Mods are going to shut this thread right down in no time short once they get around to seeing it. -

I've only sent 1 book to CCS and they damaged it. Not risking anymore books with them. Sorry to hear about all of the bad experiences with CCS's qualtiy of service. I had heard they had a lot of issues when Matt first left to switch over to the CGC side of the business, but assumed this was all simply part of the learning process and would eventually be worked in due time. Guess they still have not been worked out, and in fact, might have even gotten worse. Maybe they should transfer Matt back to the CCS side of the business and that'll get both the pressing and grading back on par. -
Your comment about the popularity of the Ducks books reminds me of my first venture down to the SD Con in the very early 90's. I remembered there was a lot of commotion when a private collector walked in with a very small stash of books (about 20 or so) and he was apparently looking to trade them for some of the Ducks books. He had driven all the way down from Newport Beach or thereabouts and I think Fishler or one of the other big dealers had assured him that they would have a copy of either Four Color 4 or was it March of Comics 4 which he was really trying to acquire for his personal collection. Apparently, he was really upset as he thought they were simply trying to give him the old runaround when they didn't have the Ducks book and instead, tried to lowball him on his small stash of books. Big mistake on the dealers part because I believe he had a nice run of low to mid grade pre-Robin 'Tec books in there from 'Tec 28 through to 'Tec 38, save for a few issues in the middle of the run. But the one single book that all of the dealers were really interested in and chasing at the time was a really nice looking sharp copy of the HTF Detective 1 which he had right at the top of his pile. Looking backwards, I bet they were all sorry that they didn't have a copy of Four Color 4 or March of Comics 4 that day.

With respect to the so-called comic book "auctions", is it not overwhelmingly all done in the BIN format now as opposed to the true traditional auction format? Certainly discourages anybody from wasting their time to even look, let alone participate and think about throwing in a bid. -
Well, it is the actual day of the auction and still absolutely zippo from CC in terms of any communications at all about this Event Auction of theirs. If I had any books consigned to this auction, I would certainly not be very please about their communications and lack of promotion of this particular go round. Of course, good for any potential bidders like me as it might just hopefully mean less competition.

Well, you certainly can't beat a complete set of the Junior GGA covers. My personal favorites are the Junior 13 followed by the Junior 15, and I guess Junior 11 also isn't too bad looking.

You mean that Chuck had actially graded it properly as it shows up in his Mile High as a Fine condition copy.

No worries and always happy to share what liitle info I do have. Actually, from a true rarity point of view, the real toughies apparently are supposed to be Overstreet #2 and #3 hardcovers which some boardies speculate might have been printed in only the triple digit amounts and possibly even only in double digit amounts. Probably one of the reasons why they appear to be so extant and haven't really shown up in auctions as far as I am aware, as any that are around are probably locked away in private collections.

Glad to hear that you did quite well with your books and that you are happey with the Heritage results. Just a question here seems I tend to hear all sorts of differents answers depending upon who the consignor is. Are the consignments fees as based upon your experience here, really dependent upon both the dollar value of your books plus how well your negotiation skills are? Especially since I have heard that the range is rather quite wide here. -

My bad as I really should stop ckecking on posts with my cell phone since it's always harder to see everything as clear. So, it looks like all of the upgrades (X3) and all of the downgrades (X2) were by only one single increment which I find to be in a perfectly acceptable margin of error range when you are delaing with books in the the mid-grades with various defects. -

Well, you can never really tell if you are talking about the second list since that's got pressing and restoration removal impacts in there. Just going off the first list only, it looks like there were 7 previously graded CGC books. If I understand this correctly, it looks like he must had had them all regraded recently with 2 of them coming back in the same grade, 2 of them coming back one notch lower, 2 others coming back one notch higher, and then the last one going all the way from a CGC 3.0 graded copy right up to a CGC 5.0 graded copy on a straight resub. Not sure about a batting average of 29% if it also extrapolates to the uber high grades, although I believe there is a lot more variation with the mid-grads due to the various possible combinations of defects. Still kind of puts into question why specualtors would pay multiples more for a book that is only one notch higher when it comes to otherwise common Modern books that are in uber HG conditions. -
Wow, is Heritage really brightening their scans or what as that 8.0 does not look very blue to me? As for the first printing, I believe it was limited to only 1,000 copies as I had mentioned in my initial post that started this thread. So, I would imagine that there's probably not too many around that would still be in relatively HG condition. Not sure if the last sale for $9K was simply nothing more than an outlier that will not be repeated or if the prices will head right back down to the $2K to $3K that they were at several years ago. Especially since as we all know, the comic book market has exploded since that time.
-
Well, it's never too late to give it another try as it looks like Heritage has 2 of them coming up in their next auction this coming August: Not sure how smart it is to have 2 of them up in the exact same auction as I believe this would only serve to dampen prices on both copies here. Looks like the CGC 9.2 graded copy was graded recently and the consignor must be hoping for the astounding price that the last CGC 9.2 graded copy managed to fetched near the end of last year. Not sure if he's going to have the same luck though.

Now, this Porky Pig cover was the first Overstreet also for me and I have purchased a copy every year since then. I was absolutely shocked that older comics were worth that kind of money and spent countless hours paging through that copy. Needless to say, it is by far the most worn out one in my entire Overstreet run. Back in those early years, I always wished that I could eventually sell my books of the day for the prices that Overstreet had them listed for. Now that I am primarily into GA books, I just wished that I could buy them for the prices that Overstreet has them listed for.
