  1. So, which ones did you win? Unfortunately, only one of them and it was not the AMF V2#1 which was the one that I was really after. Maybe I should have gone a bit higher on some of those early Air Fighters, but then again, more money for some other Centaurs or minor Fox books that might fall through the cracks in the next few days.
  2. I thought the AMF 2/7 went somewhat low, but I don't know if it was well below market. Yes indeed, looks like the AMF 2/7 went for a discount to guide. Personally though, I feel that this particular issue might be overvalued in the guide relative to the prior issues which definitely appears to be undervalued in the guide as they all sold for either a substantial premium or multiple to guide, whether in unrestored or Conserved condition. I was certainly tempted by many of the early Air Fighters with the classic war covers, as they definitely looked nice, but yet most of them managed to sell at only a discount to guide. Definitely tempted, but wanted to hold back my money for some of the AMF Centaurs which were much higher on my priority list.
  3. Now you tell me. Gee, if I had known this, it would have gone for a lot more than just a measly $249.
  4. +1 Peter; That's not possible since you seem to be a good customer of theirs. I have yet to purchase a single book from CC until this auction here, and yet I have been on their mailing list since forever. Go figure that.
  5. I don't get those emails from CC Then I assume it's a simple matter of contacting them and asking to be put on their mailing list which they would be more than happy to. You should also check you Spam box to see if your system is simply turfing them out before it hits your in basket. Once you start getting them, be sure to not hit the Unsubscribe button and you should be good to go.
  6. What browser do you use, as this never seems to work for me. Are you talking about just calling up the search page? That's the only link I get in their emails. If I hit Sold Items I get all the listings in alphabetical order, but can't search them. The search function just reverts to what's available. The browser should not make a difference at all as it's just a matter of retrieving the emails which were sent to you from CC. For example, the Session 2 auction links for today promoting the Jon Berk Collection were sent in 2 separate email messages back on may 25th. The Session 1 auction links for what took place yesterday were sent out in 3 separate email message on May 22nd for the first portion and on May 23 for the last 2 portions. The last ones for Session 5 coming this Friday were sent out in 2 separate email messages on June 8th and June 9th.
  7. Well, since most board members here are stating that the AF 15 market is in the midst of a gigantic bubble right now, I guess this should be the best time to ask for an outrageous price instead of waiting a few years from now. Especially since bubbles are bound to burst eventually and the CGC 7.5 market might be back down under the $100K mark by then.
  8. Yes, as has already been posted many times before. All you have to do is to retrieve the individual email messages which CC had sent to you last week as they will have links to every single one of their auction lots. In addition, the links are up there indiefinitely as I am still able to call up auctions from years ago.
  9. That's his favorite cover of the run. I have grown very fond of it after seeing his copy in person a few times. That's what I had figured as there was a very obvious gap here in this beautiful run. Definitely a man with impeccable taste and I am certainly happy to see that he is keeping some of his personal favorites for himself.
  10. Can't wait as Day 2 is definitely going to be a big big day. Besides the 'Tec 27, we've also got the early Captain America's, the Catman's, and most of all, the first of the big Fox Church runs in terms of Fantastic Comics. Wonder if this Fantastic Church run is finally going to be split up or still kept in the hands of one big money collector, as it's pretty well been kept intact for the past 75+ years passing between only a small handful of prominent collectors to date.
  11. That's the thing about a generational auction such as this where you have not only quality, but also a massive quantity at the same time. Although prices are certainly strong on most of the lots, somehow I feel that they are still not hitting their potential max dollars because bidders are holding back figuring if they can't get this one at their price, they will leave their money for the next book they want.
  12. 2600 pretty cheap, even for the conserved... 3800 was not really cheap , but I figured it for $5500 Well, if you figured $5,500 for the AMF V2#1, then I guess $3,800 must then be relatively cheap as opposed to just being really cheap. I was hoping this book might fall through the cracks and right into my hot little hands. No chance of that happening in the end though. Interesting to note that the HA archives indicates that they have never had a copy of this book before and you also indicated that this was the absolute last of the AMF's that you needed to complete your AMF run. Since you though the AMF V2#2 also went pretty cheap, what did you figured this book was going to go for? Apparently another extremely tough book to find as the HA archives indicates only 1 sale of a CGC 3.0 copy back in November 2013 for $1,374 (Overstreeet condition guide price of only $150) and then resold 10 days later for $2,300 through the Make an Offer to Owner feature on the Heritage website. Although Conserved, it looks like this is the next highest graded copy after what is most probably the Church 9.4 copy, with the census indicating only a total of 6 graded copies for this book. Absolutely love this little run of AMF's from V1#3 through to V2#6 due both to their extreme scarcity and the beautiful green, red, and yellow colors on their covers. Too bad Jon didn't have the V1#3 in there as that's a perfect example of how gorgeous and colorful this little run is.
  13. Don't believe this would be the case as I believe all of Jon's books were just freshly slabbed for this auction here.
  14. I'll bet Berk has! If my wife is any indication at all , then I would say Berk's wife more so than Berk himself.
  15. Mitch; Have you gotten around to calculating the totals for the first day's action yet?
  16. Not sure about getting your feet wet, but it definitely looks like you got more than a mouthful of goodies there.
  17. Well, it does seem to present quite nicely for a CGC 7.5 graded copy. Unfortunately, it looks like they can't afford to do a back cover scan at that price point.
  18. 2600 pretty cheap, even for the conserved... How about the AMF V2#1? A super rare Centaur that I really wanted to pick up. Unfortunately it blew right past my top end and finished up at $3,800.
  19. What I was saying was there was no bidding at the end, the book had been at 38.5k for a few days. Last bid was Saturday I think. I certainly hope that I didn't jinx the results for this book with my comments from last Saturday: If so, I do apologize although $38.5K seems to be a very strong price for the book from my point of view. Especially when you consider that it finished up at at something like over 20X condition guide price.
  20. Good call. Those 30 day auctions don't give me nearly enough time to do my research. No way would I even want to attempt that since it would be a massive undertaking and an absolute waste of time for most of the lots I would be interested in to do any type of detailed analysis. No problem with doing a quick preliminary analysis to get a general idea, but really nothing beyond that to start. Especially since almost all of the books I am interested in would already be well past my price range by the time the extended bidding time period starts. Seeing what's left at the end allows me to focus right in on that book and ignore all of the other ones.
  21. Nah, i love the extra time and the countdown clock that goes with it. It actually gives me time to analyze the realized prices on Heritage, check the Overstreet for their prices to determine the premium or multiple I would be paying, check the SI for the book in the Gerber Photojournal, see what Chuck's MH catalogue says, and compare my next potential bid against similar surrounding books that have just ended or still going to ensure that I am not overpaying for what I am bidding on. On top of that, it also gives me time to hit the fridge for some food and refreshments which was exactly what I was doing when the AMF's hit the extended bidding.
  22. Beats me, but I suspect that's what happened.. I believe if the next increments are by $2,000, it would then forced his competitor to go to $397K on his next bid in order to top yours. If he left it at $393, he would be the one that would have to go to $397 to get the top bid. At least that's my take on his bidding strategy.
  23. Um-mm, it has since passed it a while ago. It is currently at 156K. A better question is whether it will past the recent HA auction sales result of the Church Suspense 3 book.
  24. I much prefer the HA system: One auction doesn't begin until the previous one is done. I can certainly see the problem with the almost infinite number of windows being opened. But I do like the 3 minute extended bidding time period because it gives me time to think instead of panicking and doing something at the last second that I might regret later.
  25. Looks like the Catman 25 cover tried to give the All-New 8 a run for its money, but fell a bit short at just under $53K.
