  1. You left out the most important part.....millions and millions of Spidey fans.....500 does not seem like much!! Well aware of that, but how many of those millions are able or even willing to pay the kind of money it takes in today's marketplace to buy one of those 500 copies out there. In addition, there are also millions and millions of Supes and Batman fans out there. And for comparison purposes, there are only 13 graded copies of Action 1 and even fewere 7 copies of 'Tec 27 in that same CGC 4.0 to CGC 6.0 grade condition range.
  2. In this crazy world, it will be 50k. No chipping, ok page quality, well centered, colors decent. Its a Social Media approved copy...expect 50k. All this talk about mid-grade copies of AF 15's with board members posting their copies almost makes it seem like most collectors must already have a copy of this book here. Decided to take a look at the census, and there are over 500 copies of AF 15's graded in the CGC 4.0 to 6.0 grade range alone. All I can say is that looks like an awful lot of copies, especially considering how much they are going for in today's marketplace in that "relatively common" mid-grade condition range.
  3. Probably should trim the sides and make the corners more square while you're at it. Danny Boy, is that you?
  4. Any bets it would have gone higher if they had been using CC's 3-minute extended bidding format instead?
  5. Not if you do it yourself Yes indeed! If you don't have the proper tools at home, I am sue you can pick up a pair of scissors at the Dollar store.
  6. For a .5 qualified , takes a certain buyer Looks like somebody came in and sniped it at the last second since it was sitting at only $8,600 with a few seconds left. Seems like a pretty strong price for a really fugly looking Qualified 0.5 graded copy. And to show that not all 0.5 copies are the same, this is a nicer looking copy (albeit with no back cover) that CC had auctioned off back in 2015: http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=620296
  7. You have to remember that the record setting $1.1M dollar you are referring to took place 6 years ago all the way back in 2011. That auction result was definitely an outlier at the time and almost everybody said the buyer would have lost money at the time if the book went straight back out into the marketplace in terms of an attempted flip at the time. If you are talking about now in 2017, the buyer would most definitely be making money on the book. Especially with the way prices have been going with the AF 15's during the past couple of years. Of course, if you are talking about a 6-year time frame which it would now be, it's really more of a long term investment as opposed to a short term flip. Just not the same thing as it's really apples and oranges then.
  8. 20k+ wouldn't surprise me I assume if it had been the "more traditional" form of Extensive restoration as opposed to this newer hyper form of Extensive restoration (or recreation) by IGB, it would most likely go for even more money.
  9. It does not Unless, the CC customer base is different, it hasn't really seem to have helped with this Church copy of a earlier WW Sensation: http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=676934 Sure looks nice relative to its assigned grade, but pretty much running at half of the Sensation 72 even after 3 weeks on the CC auction site.
  10. Wow, there seems to a lot more love for Wonder Woman with the Heritage clientele as opposed to the CC customer base. Prices seems to be quite strong for virtually all of her books after only a few days into the auction, as evident by this Church copy of Sensation: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/sensation-comics-72-mile-high-pedigree-dc-1947-cgc-nm-94-white-pages/a/7163-92117.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Maybe somebody is banking on the upcoming Wonder Woman movie to be a big hit, although I guess the Church pedigree never hurts the valuation of a book.
  11. To clear this up for posterity as someone who is now aware of what the askings were for the 5.5 and the 6.5 - the 5.5 in Chicago was at current market 2017 pricing (well, current for post last CC sales); the 6.5 was below market for 2017 pricing (and closer to pricing prior to last CC sales) but was not priced at 2016 pricing. 2016 pricing is a misnomer. The book gained value throughout the course of 2016. Nobody is selling an AF #15 at early 2016 pricing, +1 Definitely not referring to the early 2016 prices in my initial post as AF 15 prices were definitely increasing aggressively throughout all of 2016. Well, if this was the case, then I would also assume the buyers at C2E2 were also not in tune with the new higher price range as it sounds like none of the AF 15's sold at the convention. Didn't matter if they were priced at the 2017 higher pricing or if they were priced at the below market pre-CC auction sales pricing.
  12. Notice this 9.6 copy graded in February of this year has a CVA sticker on the top left corner of the slab. How did this happened since I thought CVA had gone the way of the dinosaur and were no longer in business?
  13. Could be we will see. I highly doubt it'll stop at these dollars as posted here since the 2 books in question are already at $92.2K and $60K respectively, with still another 4 days plus the extended auction bidding time left to go.
  14. Didn't we just have several posts by board members here that there were quite a few AF 15's at the Chicago Con this past weekend and apparently none of them sold? Even though some of them were apparently priced at only 2016 prices.
  15. Well, not quite SA, but how about this GA key here: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/detective-comics-38-dc-1940-cgc-vg-35-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/7163-91007.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 I am currently the high bidder here, so if nobody else bids on this book, I should be able to win it. Seriously though, any idea if this copy here is going to beat the price that the CGC 3.0 graded copy that CC was able to get in their last auction. Somehow, I doubt it as this copy here, although graded higher back in 2012 does not seem to present quite as nice the lower graded copy that sold in the CC auction.
  16. +1 Yes indeed, as your father's name will continue to live on in comic book history long after all of us have gone to the big LCS in the sky.
  17. +1 I've also heard the same thing from both consignors who complain and buyers who are happy that the actual books looks much better in real life as opposed to whatever scans or pictures that CC are sometimes using in their auction listings.
  18. Definitely looks like some of these Fox books will do just fine from the consignor's point of view: http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=715477 Not so sure though about some of the ones that are still sitting there at less than $100 at this point in the auction.
  19. Interesting to note that the AF 15's have been slowly climbing their way up the price charts over the past couple of weeks, while the early Actions and the other GA keys appears to have taken an extended breather and resting up in advance of the big push next week.
  20. 40K So, are you really saying that the IGB 9.8 graded copy is going to sell for more than this CGC 3.5 graded copy?
  21. Yes, indeed they are: http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=715444 http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=715475 On the one hand, they seem to be generating a lot of money, and yet on the other hand, not so much. Although they are sitting there at $23K and $14 K at this point in the auction, this probably still represents only high single digit percentages of where the books would be if they were in unrestored condition.
  22. Ok, time for everybody to wake up since we now have only a few more days until the real action starts going in terms of this CC Event Auction. Wouldn't want everybody to snooze through the whole auction and then end up with post-auction regrets and missing out on all of the books selling at all-time lows. I wish.
  23. Any guesses as to where this CGC 3.5 copy of 'Tec 35 is going to end up at in the CC auction: http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=700356 Just wondering since this appears to be the only nice looking pre-Robin 'Tec book in the entire auction, besides the much less in demand 'Tec 30 with no Bats on the cover. This copy here seems to be pretty well stuck at $30K for the past couple of weeks. Doesn't really mean anything though since the last 2 nice looking pre-Robin 'Tec's pretty much doubled in price in the last day of the auction.
  24. +1 This is about as precise a list as I have seen so far in terms of the Top 5, from my point of view.
  25. Sounds like the perfect fit for you would be some of the early Master Comics with the classic war related Captain marvel Jr. covers done by Mac Raboy. In particular, I would go after books such as Master 27 with the classic V for Victory cover, Master 30 flag cover, and the Master 33 Swatiska cover. The only problem with those early Masters is that they very seldom ever come into the marketplace.
