  1. What is your take on that? that seems odd, correct? Doesn't appear odd at all as it actually seems to be the prevailing pattern here. It seems that it is primarily the major auction houses, and CC in particular, that are able to generate market leading top dollars for their nicer copies of AF 15's. Although the more traditional dealers are trying to follow suit in terms of these price increases, they do not seem to be able to sell their copies at close to the same pricing levels as evident by several sales after the last CC auction back in March. In terms of GA books, it's much clearer to see the same phenomenon with the much in-demand pre-Robin 'Tec books, where it always seems to be CC that is setting the pricing records and then seemingly pulling the rest of the market up to these new pricing levels.
  2. So you think this will double? No, but I believe a measly 11% bump to put it past the $92K mark is more than achievable at this point in the auction, with still several days left to go.
  3. Yup. That's another key factor - timing. +1 Most definitely, as virtually all MA books tend to have a very short shelf life before the speculators move onto the next "hot" book. As a result, MA books tend to depreciate in value as time goes on, while vintage quality collectible books tend to appreciate in value as time goes by.
  4. Do you have a friend of a friend thats gonna bid up to $92k Well, since the book is already sitting at $83.2K, it really doesn't have much further to go before it hits the $92K mark. After all, many of the bigger books pretty well doubled in price at the end of their last auction from where they were sitting at a few days prior to their auction end day.
  5. Somebody should get a hold of Jaydog and let him know that we now finally have the print run for the supposedly super rare Dell 'Otto variant edition of Spidey 667.
  6. Which then indicates to me that it'll be too late as the boat would have already sailed by then. Especially if the market is flooded by a ton of these books with everybody thinking the same way.
  7. Now, those are some tough early pre-hero DC books that you tend to never really run across. Do you still have them to this day and what kind of condition are they in?
  8. Sorry, I'm getting them all Well, for sure we'll be seeing record prices on these early AMF's then. Especially since we now have at least big deep pocket bidders where money is of no issue to either of them, and hence will be bidding like there's no tomorrow.
  9. You could wait for the Jon Berk auction that's coming up in June and check to see if he's got any copies there. From what I know, Jon was into the centaurs, so I am quite sure he must have a few of the ones that you are looking for. Especially since money is not an issue to your buyer, then CC would be the perfect venue for him.
  10. Yay. Thanks I only follow it every other day. I guess that means you have to up your game then.
  11. Certainly not from a supply point of view as this book is available out there in massive quantities. I guess it's just a matter of deciding which copy you want and then digging deep down into your pockets to pay for it.
  12. Unless it becomes too tight to the point of under grading which is also not good for the hobby. Personally, I believe that consistency and "right" is much better for the overall health of the hobby.
  13. I guess this would be due primarily to the strong prices that CC continues to be attracting on the nicer copies of AF 15's which they have had in both their current and prior auction.
  14. It's tough, darned tough If found, does FPS 7 normally sell for more than the other issues in the run, except for FPS 1?
  15. I'm a little more conservative than J For 1.0 it really depends on visual and pq (we've seen slightly and brittle copies really underperform compared to nicer pq) 29-18-22k 31-25-30+ 33-15k+ 35-12-15k Wow, that's a huge move up the chart for 'Tec 29 as you have it almost nipping at the heels of 'Tec 31. Personally, I've always felt that the more detailed cover 'Tec 29 was under appreciated relative to the more classic poster like image for 'Tec 31. In order to finish this little pre-Robin survey here, what would your price per point estimates be for Detectives 36, 37, and 38?
  16. No love for Ernie Gerber and his landmark GA Photo-Journal Guide which opened the doors for many collectors to see covers for the first time which they had never ever seen before.
  17. Never seen that one before. Any idea if this particular issue is any tougher to find as compared to the rest of the FPS run since Overstreet has this issue being flagged as Rare? Similar in vein to the Star Comics 3 which is another racial related cover also flagged as Rare, with a substantially higher valuation than all of the other issues in the price guide.
  18. Since it sounds as though you have a bunch of balls in play and been only getting base hits with them, maybe it's time for a slight change in strategy. How about taking one of your nicer presenting copies relative to grade and toss it into CC's hands, so that they can do all of the grunt work for you and see if they can hit a home run for you.
  19. Thank you! And yes it has professional moderate restoration done. My prediction is that as the price for unrestored copies of these HTF in-demand GA books goes past the budgets of most collectors, even the non-extensive restored copies will end up experiencing significant demand and increased prices in the marketplace. Similar to how low grade copies of these books were not highly priced a few years ago, but are now highly sought after and highly priced as entry level copies in today's marketplace.
  20. +1 You can certainly say that when you have such a nice copy of this classic cover book. Any type of restoration work on your copy here since it just looks so beautiful in all its colorful glory.
  21. And to think that collectors or speculators are still willing to pay these kind of prices when there are already 700 copies of these graded in 9.8 or better condition, with hundreds more still to come which are sitting in personal collections out there.
  22. I'd just like to get 5k a point for the lower grades (3.5 and under) Has there been a change on a price per point basis for these relatively lower grade copies of AF 15's on a before and after basis in terms of the big 3 sales in the last CC auction?
  23. That's why you should trade in all of your AF 15's and other Marvel SA keys to use as a down payment and then use the power of leverage to double or triple your money in a short period of time. Especially with home prices increasing by a 30% to 40% rate on a year over year basis. Oh, maybe too late now since I heard your provincial government has just imposed a 15% purchase tax on home purchases by non-residents along with rent controls. Must have gotten tired of all those flippers coming in and buying up entire floors of condo units with minimal deposits only and then flipping them back out at massive profits even before the final payments are due. And now we know why real money from China and the other Asian countries has not and most likely will never enter into the comic book market for books like AF 15's and the like, because they are simply too busy making millions on real estate transactions which has always been the #1 vehicle in terms of their historical investment culture.
  24. Have any of these Ebay copies sold? Now, that is definitely a key question to ask? Although sellers can always ask for more money, it doesn't mean that the books are going to necessarily sell at that higher price point. Yes, this is also what I remember seeing. Substantially lower prices on the AF 15's on a price per point basis after the last CC auction and pretty well back to where they were in the $5K to $7K range in terms of price per point. Definitely nowhere close to the $8 to $10K+ price range that CC was able to achieve with their last set of auction results.
  25. Great stuff Art! +1 Definitely a nice run of books to have right now, especially considering that the new Wonder Woman movie is right on the horizon. After having only nothing except what basically amounts to high profile flops over the past few years, I believe this new Wonder Woman movie has a chance at being the first real winner for the DCU. Not sure if any success (hopefully) will translate into higher prices for the GA Wonder Woman books, although the hype over the past couple of years has definitely already awaken the 3 major WW keys along with a few others from their extended slumber.
