  1. Yes, that'll be one of the books to have, but I think THE book to have will be Thor #165...the 1st FULL appearance of HIM (Warlock). After a quick look, it looks like GPA is already trending that way: Fantastic Four #67 CGC 9.4 ~ $1,700 CGC 9.0 ~ $500 CGC 8.0 ~ $200 Thor #165 CGC 9.4 ~ $2,000 CGC 9.0 ~ $800 CGC 8.0 ~ $350 Obviously the other book to grab is Marvel Premiere #1. I think there is going to be a lot of fanboy confusion as to what book is the 'right' book to have once Warlock shows up so all three of FF#67, THOR#165, MP#1 should increase substantially. That's my $0.02... Do you have the equivalent sales trend for MP 1? I believe the dollar figures for MP 1 would be substantially lower since it is a much later #1 book and hence, was much more highly collected in grade as opposed to the earlier Thor and FF books.
  2. Gee, it looks like they are just crawling out from every corner of the woodwork now......must be a spider nest around somewhere. Besides the reholdered CGC 9.2 copy that CL just sold the previous week and the regraded CGC 8.5 copy that HA will come in their upcoming auction, we now have the 9.0 copy from CL, plus another CGC 9.0 copy in CC's upcoming Event Auction: http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=701480 Definitely not a rare book at all as there are at least a dozen copies coming up in the major auctions just on HA, CC, and CL alone, never mind the other smaller auction sites.
  3. I saw the stamps on that site - I have to wait for the book to come back. As I said I wasn't aware it was a pedigree, so I assume it has a stamp on it somewhere. Thanks - I don't really understand the premium for Pedigrees. I don't think there are many pedigrees that consistently get a premium. Church copies typically do. San Francisco/Reilly, Larson, Curator, and Okajima (particularly from the camp era) generally do. Hit or miss for the other pedigrees, I think. I believe most of the older and longer established pedigrees would tend to get a larger premium. Not so much for the CGC generation of pedigrees, especially with respect to the SA and BA related pedigrees. For a few years there, even some of the long-time GA pedigrees had significantly reduced premiums paid for them after CGC came out. Definitely not the case anymore, especially with respect to the GA Church books and even more so when they come out in runs. BTW: I would definitely add in the highly sought after, but very hard to come by Allentown books as definite pedigree books whereby a strong premium is paid.
  4. $20-30K Might actually be in the low end of that price range since it is already such a pricey old traditional key. Interesting to note that it has actually gone down in the OS price guide in VF condition over the past 10 years. Money seems to be going into the cheaper classic cover issues such as #11 and #13, which seems to be the rising nouveau keys when it comes to this GA Subby run.
  5. Now, that's what I would call an AMAZING group shot there. Way to go, Gator!
  6. +1 Probably the best you can hope for is just a marginal increase, if even any at all, since this is not one of the in-demand pedigrees that collectors would go out of their way to search for.
  7. Well, from the way I read their Restoration Grading Scale, cleaning would be considered to be restoration if there is excessive whiteness, fading, colors washed out, rippling, cockling, etc. as per the following link: https://www.cgccomics.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=4083& So, it would appear to be Conservation if it didn't exhibit any of those defects as a result of the cleaning process. If the defects are there, then it would be considered to be Restoration, is the way I read it.
  8. If my fading memory serves me right, didn't CL have a low grade slightly restored copy that was auctioned off on their site for something like $6,300 or thereabouts approximately 5 years ago? yes. I was underbidder. Any idea what happened to that particular copy as it no longer seems to show up in the CGC census? Did it somehow managed to unrestored itself?

  10. I believe these are generally the types of books that Chuck tries to pick up for a dime each (if that) in his travels around the country.
  11. Well, with the Church books, I would have to say that his ROI was absolutely astounding. Especially considering that he basically paid cover price or what amounted to only $0.10 for each of those Mile High books. I guess that's why he is still going around the country nowadays trying to buy up books for literally only pennies even now some 40 odd years later.
  12. And at the same time, doesn't this also sort of invalidate all of their own previous slabbed books which would have been graded under their previous looser standards.
  13. And probably a sure loss once you factor in the shipping charges and the auction fees which you would have to pay.
  14. Looks like this book was graded way back in August of 2000 when CGC first opened their doors. Since CGC has now changed their definitions for restoration, it looks like this book should now receive a Conserved quasi-blue label if it gets resubmitted for grading. Cleaning, whether by water or solvent (if done properly) is apparently now considered to be Conservation, as opposed to Restoration.
  15. Must have this book. Maybe you'll sell this year. *fingers crossed. I prefer to trade centaurs...but I do have 4 copies right now (well, 3, as I have promised 1 to a friend)...if nothing shows up I need to trade for, I might consider selling one If all 4 of your copies are graded, then maybe you should try and corner the entire market by buying up the fifth and last remaining graded copy left. That way, you can have total complete world domination of the market for A-Man 25 and be able to ask any price that you want at all.
  16. Cal would probably be more than happy to buy all of your 9.8 & above graded copies of IM/SM 1 at 4X top of guide.
  17. Yes, it's now graded by CGC, and the current market will place a premium price over the other grading company. Since this book was sold about six months ago...... .....lack of confidence would turn people off on a Voldy book in the beginning. But someone who knows how to buy the book and not the grade got a steal. Not sure what you mean by "in the beginning" since I believe Voldy has been in business since 2014 and this copy of AF 15 was auctioned off only 6 months ago. Any bets that we'll see a similar rinse and repeat when the ASM 14 comes onto the auction block later this summer, with all the so-called smart money passing on the book until it gets reslabbed into a CGC holder.
  18. Yes, we all know what it says on the cover itself. Unfortunately, that does not mean that all of the books that left the printers actually had the Tattooz inserted into them. If you check the MCS site, you'll note that some did not have the Tattooz insert, and in fact, some of them even had a completely different insert inside even though the cover clearly stated that it would have the Tattooz insert. What? Where are you seeing that? It's quite possible that I might not be reading their website properly since it says that both #238AMJ and #238 BMJ are Not In Stock: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?q=amazing%20spider-man%20%20238 Never ordered from them before, so not 100% sure how to read their offerings.
  19. Without a doubt, it would be the Adams & Smith run of Avengers from issue #93 through #100 from my point of view. I still remember back in the day when Avengers 93 used to be one of the most valuable BA books in the marketplace. Not so much anymore, as it seems to have fallen right off the radar for some reason. Not so sure why since it is part of a classic Kree/Skull Wars story line and coupled with 52 pages and cover artwork by Neal Adams.
  20. And sometimes they don't reward them and seemingly almost punish them instead. For example, take the non-pressed, original state, verified Stan Lee signed VF+ 8.5 graded copy of AF15 that was only able to fetch a price of more than $35K under the Overstreet condition guide price in the big HA Signature Auction just last summer. This 8.5 book was graded by Voldy, signature placement, and poor scan. This was discussed heavily in the Amazing Fantasy 15 club. Again, the person who step up to the plate and purchased this book is going to do quite well. I thought the biggest concern was that it was completely overgraded by the other company. And yet, it got the exact same VF+ 8.5 grade when graded by CGC, albeit without any notation at all for the Stan Lee signature. Not so overgraded after all.
  21. From the CGC census, it looks like there are a total of 5 Universal copies graded so far, with the highest graded being 2 copies at 2.0 Good condition.
  22. Why is that copy only a 1.8? I know, right? May all our 1.8's look so good. presents like a 7.0+. Has spine split Definitely love these supposedly "low grade" copies that presents like a much higher grade copy. How severe is the spine split or is it to the point that the cover is almost detached?
  23. And you're giving investment advice? Yes, bought it in early December. I don't offerfinancial advice. Simply report on past sales. Well, if you sold it for only $14.500 after paying $9,500 for it, then it means that you must have lost $9,485.500 on the book.
  24. It cannot be considered an original state if Stan Lee signed it. I think it's a big mistake to get a high grade key signed. That part is actually true. Was thinking original state more from the point of view that it had not been intentionally worked on in order to maximize its potential. Of course, Stan might have accidentally pressed out some non-color breaking creases with his elbow while he was signing the book.
