The scoring results thread most likely won't be available until the following day. The next round will most likely be posted within 1 hour after the previous round has ended. Because the contest involves only scans, books were chosen with defects present only on the covers; there are no significant defects to the interior pages or interior cover, such as tape, missing parts or brittle pages. No restoration is present either. All defects relevant to the grade should be visible in the scans. If there is a defect that is not visible, we will try to provide a graders note. Here are the rules. Please read them carefully. There will be 4 rounds with 5 books per round. After the deadline for the signup thread has ended, I will start a new thread in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section, scans of the first 5 books will be posted, and I will start a PM thread between myself and each participant. Be sure to use THIS PM thread to submit your grades every round. I will post a list for the books in the thread where the books are posted for each round. Please copy and paste that list into our PM, and add the grades for each book. Only CGC grades (numerical) will be accepted. Non CGC grades like fine+ or Very fine- will not be accepted. Be sure to follow the threads that the books are posted in. This is the only way you will know when the next round starts. There will be no update when the next round begins sent to our PM thread. All of the threads with the books and the results will be posted in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section. You will have 4 days to get your grades in. After I record your grades, I will reply to the PM thread so you know that your grades have been recorded. Only grades from .5 to 9.8 will be accepted. Grades of 9.9 and 10.0 that are received, will be recorded as a 9.8 Please do not bump the PM for any reason other than submitting your grades. Nobody will be allowed to change their grades. Do not discuss your grades with others in the thread until the round is closed. Also, please do not ask any questions about the books publicly or privately (by sending me a PM) . If I am provided any special notes from CGC, I will share them in the thread. If anyone fails to submit their grades for a round, or do not submit grades for all of the books in a round, their participation in the contest will be terminated. You will be able to participate in the next contest. After the 4 days are up and the round is closed, I will post scans of the books in CGC holders to reveal their grades, and include the graders notes for the books. A new thread will be started to show the results of each participant. The results thread will most likely be started the next day. There will be a new thread started for the next round. This thread will most likely be started within an hour after the prior round has ended. 0 points is the best score one can achieve. 1 point will be added to your score for each grade that is higher or lower than the actual grade. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 4.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 6.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 5.0, your score for that book is 0. CGC will be awarding $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.

87 participants have submitted their grades.

So far, only 76 participants have submitted their grades. 61 people haven't submitted their grades. The deadline is about 30 hours away.

The cards I submitted show as shipped back to me. However I was charged the coat of grading the 3 cards I submitted, even though 2 of them are the metal cards. The only thing you can do is contact customer service, and ask them for a refund.

Could you post some pictures of the scuffs and scratches?

Hello If the card is genuine, and the error is genuine, we will grade it. From what I can see, it looks good but I can't guarantee anything. It's likely a genuine error. Mike

So, It's my feeling that many didn't vote because they didn't like the choices. I think more would have voted if there was a choice that said sellers must disclose if the book (s) they are selling are not in their possession. Also, a lot of people feel that no more rules need to be added. So, I will not be adding this to the list of rules.

68 Participants have submitted their grades. The most bullseyes submitted were 3. 1 person has a score of 2.

I sent these in to CGC asking if the cert numbers could be made invalid.

They should be changed over by the grader to gray stamp, but could possibly be missed if they are not submitted properly.

Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely check into all of this when I go through this thread for QC issues. This will probably require a different e-mail to upper management.

How do people feel about a poll with 2 options? If a book isn't in the sellers possession, it needs to be disclosed. No new rule needs to be added. Do people think that no new poll is needed and no new rule needs to be added?

We are still working on this.

You can ask for a refund and the cards will be returned ungraded.

If the graders bump a particular book because they feel it is undervalued, the book in that situation will stay with the rest of the books on that submission and be done at the same time. They will just be charged the difference in the grading fees. We would not separate the book onto its own submission at that point because the fees would have already been charged and it has already moved into the grading room at that stage.

I am leaning towards starting another poll asking is if sellers should disclose if they don't have the book in their possession, or is they do not have to disclose. I am just not convinced that board members want a rule that is stated in this poll. I feel that if the poll had a choice that I mentioned above, the results would have been different. I will hold off for a while and see what people have to say.

I never said I was going to throw it out. I was just interested in hearing few more comments before I made this a new rule. I'll visit this thread again in the morning.
