  1. Grades are due by Wednesday July 27 8:00 PM Eastern time. Good luck! The reveal of the actual CGC grades will be posted shortly after the round is closed, with scans of the books in their CGC holders. The scoring results thread most likely won't be available until the following day. The next round will most likely be posted within 1 hour after the previous round has ended. Click on the image to supersize it. Because the contest involves only scans, books were chosen with defects present only on the covers; there are no significant defects to the interior pages or interior cover, such as tape, missing parts or brittle pages. No restoration is present either. All defects relevant to the grade should be visible in the scans. If there is a defect that is not visible, we will try to provide a graders note. Please copy this list of books and paste it into our PM, then post your grades on the same line. Adventure Comics #37 Shocking Mystery #50 Green Lantern #1 Amazing Spider-Man #39 Werewolf By Night #32
  2. Here are the rules. Please read them carefully. There will be 4 rounds with 5 books per round. After the deadline for the signup thread has ended, I will start a new thread in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section, scans of the first 5 books will be posted, and I will start a PM thread between myself and each participant. Be sure to use THIS PM thread to submit your grades every round. I will post a list for the books in the thread where the books are posted for each round. Please copy and paste that list into our PM, and add the grades for each book. Only CGC grades (numerical) will be accepted. Non CGC grades like fine+ or Very fine- will not be accepted. Be sure to follow the threads that the books are posted in. This is the only way you will know when the next round starts. There will be no update when the next round begins sent to our PM thread. All of the threads with the books and the results will be posted in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section. You will have 4 days to get your grades in. After I record your grades, I will reply to the PM thread so you know that your grades have been recorded. Only grades from .5 to 9.8 will be accepted. Grades of 9.9 and 10.0 that are received, will be recorded as a 9.8 Please do not bump the PM for any reason other than submitting your grades. Nobody will be allowed to change their grades. Do not discuss your grades with others in the thread until the round is closed. Also, please do not ask any questions about the books publicly or privately (by sending me a PM) . If I am provided any special notes from CGC, I will share them in the thread. If anyone fails to submit their grades for a round, or do not submit grades for all of the books in a round, their participation in the contest will be terminated. You will be able to participate in the next contest. After the 4 days are up and the round is closed, I will post scans of the books in CGC holders to reveal their grades, and include the graders notes for the books. A new thread will be started to show the results of each participant. The results thread will most likely be started the next day. There will be a new thread started for the next round. This thread will most likely be started within an hour after the prior round has ended. 0 points is the best score one can achieve. 1 point will be added to your score for each grade that is higher or lower than the actual grade. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 4.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 6.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 5.0, your score for that book is 0. CGC will be awarding $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.
  3. If we add this rule, I will make a note that exceptions will be made for charity threads. Also, if people are unhappy with this new rule (if it gets added) A new poll can be made to change it. Maybe the majority would rather the seller has to disclose if the book is not in their possession, instead of a rule stating no books can be sold if it's not in the possession of the seller. In the end, I want forum members to decide which rules should be in place. Rules in the marketplace are not forever etched in stone.
  4. The signup for this event closes at 8:00 PM eastern time Thursday July 21 In other words, tomorrow night as originally planned. Round 1 will Start this Saturday at 8:00 PM and participants will have 4 days to get their grades in.
  5. Hello If you would like the label corrected, you can go to the online submission form, and create another submission. You would select Mechanical error. It will give you a link to get a free, prepaid shipping label. We would also pay for return shipping of the book.
  6. Sometimes, SS presale does spill over into the forum only selling sections. Ideally, a 3rd choice in this poll would have been best but, I don't think not having it will skew the results. I think this is something we should address after this poll is finished. If it is decided in another poll that people don't want presales to be exempt, I would just edit the new rule from this poll, provided the majority vote for option #1.
  7. There is guidelines for the OA section but, they are much more relaxed compared to the forum only comics selling sections.
  8. Hello The problem we have been having with USPS is, the carrier can't always scan all of the packages. I know we have had 10 pallets of packages waiting to be picked up. I believe they have been sending an extra carrier so, they should be caught up soon. Mike
  9. It's my understanding, that the signature series forum is exempt from the marketplace rules. In over 10 years of moderating here, I have not had to go there once for any selling. I am a little torn as to which way to go for allowing pre sales in the selling forums. It's my feeling that they should not be exempt from the rule. This is something we will have to work out after this poll is finished.
  10. The reason the old grade is still in the population report is due to a technical issue. We are working on getting this fixed.
  11. To be clear, I was referring to the percentage of people who voted in the poll, not the percentage of board members. I need to be sure people actually want a new rule about this. In the last poll, 161 people voted, and the most votes for any 1 choice was 54. The majority of the people voting didn't vote in favor of the top choice. People complain there are already too many rules here. With this poll, there are 2 choices. It will decide weather or not this rule should be added.
  12. Time is running out. In less than 48 hours, the signup for this will be closed.
  13. I have moved this to the general discussion because it doesn't meet the requirements for the selling section.
  14. If you don't have the submission numbers, you can still send examples. Just be sure to include your customer id number, and we can look up the submission number (s).
  15. If anyone would like a title to their thread edited, just PM me. I do it very often for threads in the movie section. Be specific with the wording that you would like for the whole title. Then, I can just copy and paste.
  16. I have added this below the list of rules for the marketplace guidelines. It's nothing that will get your thread pulled but, it would be appreciated it you would comply. Sellers: If your books are being offered to US residents only, please be kind and make a note of that in the title for our foreign board members.
  17. The first one had 354 participants sign up in a day and a half. There would have been a lot more, if I hadn't capped the number of participants. 200 of them dropped out of the contest. Many never bothered to participate. I probably spent 15 to 20 extra hours on those 200 people between sending them PM's, going through the thread to list them, and adding them to the spreadsheet.
  18. Did you click on MY CGC then My Submissions in the drop down menu? If you did, you should see this. If you click in it and nothing shows up, you will have to contact customer service. 877-662-6642941-360-3991941-360-2558 (fax)Service@CGCcards.com
  19. While I didn't make it an official rule, I did make a note of it in the marketplace guidelines.
  20. Honestly (and this is NOT a knock on CGC Mike) I think the real issue was that it was Mike himself who suggested a supplemental prize thread the first time around, and I think that put a lot of people off. Like, why is CGC trying to get other people to donate more prizes to their own contest....? I know it didn't come from a cynical place from MIke's perspective, but a lot of people were cynical. Another concern with the prize thread for the 1st contest was all of the 0 post users that might win prizes that veteran board members donated. For the first contest, I had marketing do an e-blast, and post about it on social media. I did not do that with the 2nd contest sign up or this one. My goal is to get enough regular board members to enter, and for these contests to have the feel of a board tradition contest.
  21. No, and that is something that could be done. CGC will be donating prizes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Any other prize thread would be separate from the CGC prizes.
  22. The grade should not change. Please state that it is not an Inadvertent Early Release when you do the mechanical error submission. That way, it will get reholdered with the correct label. Thanks, Mike
