I took a look. If it was posted way back, I am guessing there wasn't a spare a grade section. Also, several of your threads asking for grades didn't mention what book. Anyhow, here is a link to all of the threads you started. https://boards.cgccomics.com/profile/367-povertyrow/content/?type=forums_topic

I've cleaned this thread up a few times today. Lets leave the binary aspect out of the discussion for starters.

Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
CGC Mike replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
+1 I go through this thread and other threads each week that involve QC issues, and send Mike an e-mail. Last week was a busy week so, he got 2. There's about 20 or so different QC issues that we are working on fixing. Mike is great to work with. I sometimes get replies from him on weekends, and at 7:00 in the morning. We will get these things fixed. Customers should see positive results with some issues very soon like upside down books, hair in case, scratches, issue number not matching label, labels being switched on books from the same submission, ect... Other issues like finger bends, rippling due to not enough room and the inner well and is pushing on the book, puddling, newton rings and a few others might take longer to fix. You can help with bringing up these examples. Pictures are highly encouraged. -
So, am I right in thinking there are 2 different issues with finger bends? The one's that have finger bends in the graders notes didn't happen during encapsulation. The example that @PovertyRow posted seems to have occurred during encapsulation. When this thread first popped up, I mentioned to the new QC manager that people were getting a lot of books that had finger bends in the graders notes, and asked him to check into the page counting step of the grading process. I went on to say that many of these books were pressed by professionals, and in many cases, they were hand delivered to CGC. It appears that I need to bring up the encapsulation issue as well. I'm going to swipe the image that Pov posted, and am interested in any other comments that people have about this.

Here's a post from Jennifer: The turnaround time does start when the package is received, however, that does not mean the the turnaround time of that package cannot change from what it was when you sent the order in. There are many factors that go into the turnaround times including how many other submissions were received in the same week. We generally receive about 30-40 thousand submissions a week and depending on how many of those are in the same tier or have the same services as your invoice could factor into a longer turnaround time. We also can't say exactly how long it will take to grade or press one invoice. That will vary from submission to submission. Sometimes the graders need more time with a particular book or sometimes a book may require multiple passes through the pressing machine. All of these things can extend the turnaround time. We try to provide the best estimate we can but those sorts of variables will cause fluctuations in the time.

Question on Grading Surface (Pokemon Cards)
CGC Mike replied to Pokemon Mattster's topic in Ask CGC Cards - TCGs & Non-sports
Hello There is no way we can give opinions of grades or subgrades based on scans. I will move this to the regular trading cards section, and possibly other collectors will give their opinions which might help you make a decision. Mike -
PM me your submission number and I will look into this for you.

@PaulS. might have some insight on this. I have been informed that this is something that's being worked on, but it will take some time.

Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
CGC Mike replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
Seriously? How is this possible? After all this time, CGC does not know where they are coming from? I want to clear this up regarding scratches. After this, I will not be posting any procedures that are being done to fix QC problems. I mentioned new equipment was ordered to help prevent scratches. This is what I posted. Here was your reply. I did not want people to jump to conclusions so, I made this post. You picked out just one sentence from my post, and came to another conclusion. When I said we do not know yet, I was referring to you and I, not CGC. I have not yet received confirmation that the scratches are solely coming from CGC procedures, from supply source, or both. What I do know is, we are working to get this problem and several others fixed. -
CGC is thrilled to announce an exclusive Private Signing event with the legendary writer, Tom Taylor! Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???

I'll check this thread for any QC issues but, I will not be answering anymore questions. I should have known better than try to share anything about QC efforts with the community. -

I do not know for certainty that the scratches are solely coming from in house. I do know that in the meeting I had with the QC manager, we discussed the scratches. He had already ordered protective materials to help prevent scratches. I did bring it up that he may want to check the sources of material we receive. The bottom line is, I don't know for sure that the scratches are coming solely from in house handling of the slabs. I do know we are working on the problem of customers receiving scratches on their slabs. Actually, we are working on 20 different QC issues. However, if people are going to jump to conclusions based on my posts on keeping the community updated, I will stop. We do not know yet if these scratches are all happening in house.
