Here are the rules. Please read them carefully. There will be four rounds with 5 books per round. After the deadline for the signup thread has ended, I will start a new thread in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section, scans of the first 5 books will be posted, and I will start a PM thread between myself and each participant. Be sure to use THIS PM thread to submit your grades every round. I will post a list for the books in the thread where the books are posted for each round. Please copy and paste that list into our PM, and add the grades for each book. Only CGC grades (numerical) will be accepted. Non CGC grades like fine+ or Very fine- will not be accepted. Be sure to follow the threads that the books are posted in. This is the only way you will know when the next round starts. There will be no update when the next round begins sent to our PM thread. All of the threads with the books and the results will be posted in the hey buddy can you spare a grade section. You will have 4 days to get your grades in. After I record your grades, I will reply to the PM thread so you know that your grades have been recorded. Please do not bump the PM for any reason other than submitting your grades. Nobody will be allowed to change their grades. Do not discuss your grades with others in the thread until the round is closed. Also, please do not ask any questions about the books publicly or privately (by sending me a PM) . If I am provided any special notes from CGC, I will share them in the thread. If anyone fails to submit their grades for a round, their participation in the contest will be terminated. You will also not be allowed to enter the next contest. You will have to "sit one out" An exception will be if someone contacts me with a legitimate excuse. After the 4 days are up and the round is closed, I will post scans of the books in CGC holders to reveal their grades, and include the graders notes for the books. A new thread will be started to show the results of each participant. The results thread will most likely be started the next day. There will be a new thread started for the next round. This thread will most likely be started within an hour after the prior round has ended. 0 points is the best score one can achieve. 1 point will be added to your score for each grade that is higher or lower than the actual grade. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 4.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 6.0, your score for that book is 2. If the actual grade for the book is 5.0 and you guess 5.0, your score for that book is 0. CGC will be awarding Grading credit. $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.

Hello Everyone! Welcome to CGC's 2nd grading contest. It will start around April 25th. Please post in this thread to enter the contest. The deadline to enter is April 20th 8:00 PM Eastern time. The maximum capacity for this contest is 200 participants. First come first serve. If you don't intend on playing until the end, don't sign up. For the people that fail to finish the contest, I will put them on a list, and they will not be allowed to enter the next contest. They will have to "sit one out" An exception will be if someone contacts me with a legitimate excuse. 354 people signed up for the first contest. 218 people dropped out. It isn't fair for the people that were turned away due to the set limit of people allowed to sign up. It's also not fair to the organizers that spent countless hours coming up with a list of people in the sign-up thread, adding them to the spreadsheet, and sending them a PM.

I believe I can increase or decrease it. Currently, it is set at 255 characters. Do the majority of the people want it decreased?

I moved this out of the copper/modern section, and into GSB.

He has been banned. He has created at least a dozen Id's over the last 5 or 6 months. That's why I changed the settings so, 0 post users can't send PM's. It helps some but, obviously not full proof. It's always a similar scam tactic. If you would like the PM deleted, report his post in the PM. Mike

Well, since I have taken the position at CGC I have not made one personal post or reacted to anyone's post. I do this to remain unbiased. I do realize I am not "part of the team" anymore. I am supposed to make this a fun place for people to hang out. It would also be hard for me to host the next grading contest later this month without posting. Anyhow, I will not be changing how I do things here. That is all I have to say on this matter.

Actually, my job here is much more than a moderator. I spend about 10% of my time with moderation issues. The rest of my time, I spend helping customers with a variety of issues. I am also supposed to interact with the members. CGC would also like to introduce its new CGC Chat Boards Community Liaison, Michael Greenwood! Many members already know Michael, a collector with years of experience — both in comics and the CGC Chat Boards. Michael’s involvement and other members of the CGC team will strengthen CGC’s interaction and transparency with collectors and dealers. Since I took over, I have issued a very small percentage of the warnings via the point system, compared to the way is was. My reason for doing this is, I felt that it caused a lot of revenge reporting, and it left a sour taste in people's mouth. Instead, I have let a lot more things slide. I have made postings in threads, and I have also removed some things without issuing warnings. My feeling was, that many would see their posts missing and possible refrain from reposting something similar next time. I have also created a thread for off topic posts, to cut down on thread derailment. I had a ban from topic installed to stop people from posting in a specific thread, rather than restrict their postings from the entire forum. I also started asking people to add missing rules in their FS thread, instead of pulling it and issuing a warning. The old admin stopped moderating around the mid to the end of September. Here's graph for reports. I think we are headed in the right direction.

To be honest, I have allowed a lot more conversations to take place, that would have surely been stopped with warnings attached, prior to me taking on a position with CGC.
