  1. What I really like about the two panels is the underground comix feel to them. Of course, Katz was a mainstay in the underground scene. However the Sale panel has a bold look that reminds me of the work of Spain Rodriguez. I wonder whether Stan Lee (also the defacto art editor) appreciated the experimental style of some of his Atlas freelancers? I'll bet he was laissez faire and didn't say much to displease the artist. After all he allowed Krigstein to stuff those time-sliced narrow, animated panels in a four pager.
  2. 11 - HELP! The eight comic books on the organ from left to right: Action Comics #311 Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #75 Superman #165 Superman #166 Action Comics #314 Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #67 Action Comics #304 Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #65
  3. I need to get a HD clip to make out the issue. I can barely make out the outline of the title logo. I believe the movie is HELL IN THE PACIFIC (1968) with Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. I've seen the movie but never noticed the comic book. Check out the comic book at the 9:48 mark. It's clearly Captain Marvel Adventures #38. 10 - Captain Marvel Adventures #38, LIFE Magazine, and Lee Marvin

  5. That's Doctor Strange #51 cover dated Feb 1982. The photo looks to be taken from the '80's, so I'll guess the woman is older. You zoomed in on the wrong item My wife was looking over my shoulder.

  8. 7 - There's a Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich doodad behind her, so will assume she's at a Chick-fil-A.
  9. 9 - Powerhouse Pepper #2 is in 2 (first and third) of the pics.
  10. Holy krap thats good!!! Bondage and discipline, transvestites...gotta love those early Tecs!
  11. Fred Guardineer transvestism from Detective Comics # 36:
  12. From the 9/28/52 Spirit sequence: note Wood's fluid inks and the fine detail of the looney head to go with the inner voice that was hard to see from the published newsprint.
  13. Wolverton panel from "The Man From The Moon," WTOTF 5.
  14. Panels from Wolverton's "The Man Who Never Smiled" from Weird Mysteries #4.
  15. Ouch! I haven't read such a display of man's inhumanity to man since this. I'm not a groupie but I do enjoy the injection of personality in some of the posts. It's the give-and-take joviality here that set these forums apart from other comics forums. I think a bit of digression is inherent...whether you like it or not. Newsfeed forums (which this is an example) are similar in some ways to playing digital CDs. When someone inexplicably drops something you find to be a steamer in the middle of an otherwise sequence of digital agreeableness, you can aways fast-forward past it. Thankfully, this is what the "ignore" function and the “skip” button is all about. Anyhow, I don't find Cat's posts to be spam. They certainly contribute to my enjoyment of the forums (though he needs to work on his puns sometimes). (thumbs u
  16. Wow. And it didn't occur to you to name her Lorna? ...Just kidding. Congratulations. (thumbs u
  17. I know Ray from the old days because I used to collect Filmore posters. He's also a CT artist and amateur resto-man. I'm not sure when the printer's file copies of covers first appeared on the scene. In the 1990's? I've heard rumors the Wilson brothers were doing the same thing: trimming and marrying file copies of covers.
