  1. I think we may have to inquire of a higher source Tom. I have 9 elves, which equals 18 small hands going through hundreds of long boxes. They work fast and efficiently.
  2. I'm going to talk to my elves about this, see if we can find a 9.8 copy for ya by Christmas.
  3. There is a colored distributor marking on the top edges of many comics from the 1970's. I agree, and that as its very common also. I know warehouse guys in the NY area who bought pallets of these blue inked 20 centers books back in the 1970's, they were credited as not sold by a distributor. They bought them real cheap on the secondary market. I actually have bought long boxes of these types of books, and got the story straight from the guy who bought them in the 1970's. The Ink on this particular comic is not a distributor stripe, that heavy blue ink indicates it was on the returns. Similar to cutting the top third of the comic off. CGC will kill the grade, so would I as its no better than a 4.0. You can get 9.8's on distributor marks without a problem.
  4. I heard that back in the day, they had the comics in stacks on a pallet. A guy had a bucket of ink and he used a brush to slap the edges of the comics with ink. Some comics got a heavy dose, some comics actually got missed due to the stacking, or just a tiny amount on one edge. When they eventually got sold off to second hand dealers. They would go through and look for the comics where the ink missed. They pulled the clean copies out and sold them first. The heavy inked damaged copies ended up in long boxes as they were tough to sell at much of any profit as they were obviously damaged. The majority blue inking was primarily on 20 cent Marvels.
  5. That type of ink is not from the printing process, its related to an unsold copy that credit was given back. The inking was there to mark the comic, similar to when they used to manually cut the top third of the comic off. Same scenerio, different year of print.
  6. That a return distributor mark, book should of been destroyed. It should get downgraded to a VG.
  7. The colors look deep and glossy on that book, great looking copy.
  8. Lets see this 3.0 baby of yours, welcome to the club as my copy is coverless.
  9. Great looking copy, one of my favorite covers.
  10. The 110 and the 123 are two of my favorites of the run.
  11. Picked up this copy last weekend, significant upgrade over my previous copy.
  12. Adding to my Flash 10 cent collection, I picked this up at WonderCon last weekend.
  13. Thanks He had a small stack of comics he was pricing and this book was on his table, I kept stopping back waiting for him to get a price. He literally handed the book to me after he put a price on it and I said
  14. I'm working on my 10 cent Flash collection. I picked this copy up from Graham Crackers this weekend at the Chicago Con. I'm thrilled with the deep blue colors.
  15. Just got word of a Primer #2 in 9.8 today via phone with a CGC customer service rep from my recent submission.
  16. Although grades are final when the order ships. You can call when it says scheduled for grading as they will have grades for you.
  17. Wow...new to the census. Nice! Do you know who owns this copy? Thanks. shelton drum (?) of heroes (i'm blanking) temporarily. the 42,000 book collection is slated to be sold by heritage (according to roy1970d). It has been consigned to Heritage February Signature auction.
  18. I have never owned one of the treasury sized editions, however over the years I remember seeing them sell on Ebay. Typically sold for over $100.00. I've had over 20 copies of the regular 3-D edition. There is also a 2-D version which is scarce, I do not believe I ever unearthed one of those. I would say close to 100% of the buyers of this comic are Michael Jackson memorabilia collectors.
  19. There is an oversized treasury edition of this comic book which is signifigantly scarcer and more valuable.
  20. More than 100k. Didn't a 9.8 of that just go $250 or something on eBay? There are only 2 #33 9.8 and neither were for sale on ebay. Doc Joe got his from Reynold Jay and the other went to a private sale to a guy in Britain. Incorrecto. Top Notch sold one last month for $332 on eBay. I think I even started a thread about it. Sale is in GPA. yep the 33 and 25 are now paired up side by side in a private collection
