  1. Randall is a great boardie! Hope to deal with him again!
  2. Phillip is a good boardie. Just completed a deal with him...hope to do many more.
  3. Agree with this. She-Hulk #1 (2/80) and DC Presents 26 (10/80) definitely feel like Copper Age books. I lean towards the CA running from 1980 - 1992
  4. Last sale was $1,130 http://www.ebay.com/itm/131614180864 It's not just Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8 that has had some recent highs, Solar #10 and Eternal Warrior #1 Gold Flat in 9.8 have also reached recent highs haven't they? Yes. Every time we discuss the big prices for 9.8s and I see the incredulous posts about the prices... (not directed at anyone in particular) Please remember in the case of these books a 9.8 really means something. These books are hard to find IN-GRADE. If there were going to be thousands of these they would have been graded. Many of the pre-unity books have unique flaws and printing issues that despite sizeable print runs (compared to today's books) keep them more desirable in the highest grades. Sorry if I cam across as "incredulous". I was going for more "surprised" than incredulous...
  5. Last sale was $1,130 http://www.ebay.com/itm/131614180864 That's just crazy...seeing 4-figure prices for Harbinger #1, BA #12, NM#98, etc. make me think the end is nigh... ... or possibly that some 20+ year old comics have a trajectory similar to some 30+ and 40+ year old comics that used to be 20+ year old comics that no one could believe were selling for so much 10 and 20 years ago. When I was 16, it would not have surprised me that the "first appearance of Wolverine" was selling for hundreds of dollars... no matter how common it was... even with the Mile High II supply... and Hulk 181 was only 18 years old. Harley Quinn may be just as popular today as Wolverine was then... and BA 12 is now 22 years old... with a lower print run than Hulk 181. Valiant 1990s are a different kind of collectible... similar to EC Comics from the 1950s. They weren't from the big two publishers, but they were popular and had a strong "cult" following. What's a little more "promising" than the EC Comics trajectory is that Valiant has new books again 20 years later... with 3+ years of consistent monthly comics which have been reviewed/nominated quite well. EC might have been even bigger today as collectibles if they had come back in the 1970s with the same "irreverence" they had pre-code. Can't disagree with any of that...but Harbinger? Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Valiant books...but Wolverine is Wolverine, arguably the #4 most recognizable superhero on the planet behind Superman, Batman and Spiderman. Harbinger? I guess eventually everything is OLD and therefore raised in collectible value, but I didn't think I'd see the day when some of these books went for what they're going for today... Do you know for a fact that IH #181 has a higher print run than BA #12? Curious...

  7. The GOTG that the movie was based on was straight from the Annihilation storyline...one of the best Marvel cosmic storylines out there. Sure, it wasn't the original team, but it's not like they pulled it out of their arse like an African-American Johnny Storm...
  8. Agreed. By far the best story I've read in any funny book...there's a reason that it shows up on the All-Time Top 100 books/novels...
  9. So a BA first app semi-key selling for guide in a slab that cost $25 or whatever is surprising? The # of watchers is probably surprising...not the strike price
  10. You do the math. This picture raises so many questions, all with assuredly hilarious answers. That chair must be made out of adamantium
  11. You should see it up close. It was stunning to behold when Dr. Love pulled the matted/framed beauty out at the RHG party Friday evening! RHG? Ryan Heshka Goodies?
  12. Please post a pic of it framed!
  13. Pretty broad statement and really depends on the value of their 1st app. No, it has more to do with Overstreet and which appearances got listed and increased in price - look at Saberetooth, more people are probably looking for his 3rd-6th appearances than far more valuable/important characters. Overstreet? People still look at/buy that? I read it for the articles. I read it for the accurate definition of what a first appearance is. I don't think many would argue with that definition. It's typically the "1st FULL appearance" that the market tends to gravitate towards and some people just can't handle the fact that buyers want Hulk #181 (1st Full) way more than their stacks of Hulk #180 (1st) ...
  14. LOVE that book...but it might be time for me to part with my copies...
  15. Yeah, it's like Doc;'s heading out to fight crime, and he thinks... "Hmmm, maybe I should take my Battle Axe with me?" And if Doc has an axe, then naturally Cap needs to get a sword and wrap a pile of cloth strips around his arms and feet, right? Can't go out without those thin strips of cloth. This is bad, like New Universe-level bad. This is something that Rob Liefeld would have done in '91. With pouches. Lots of pouches and teeny tiny feet...tiny feet
  16. $3-$5k with the right buyer. That's just crazy...the prices on this book are insane! Wait a minute.... coverless AF15s are selling for $3-$5k? Is there actual evidence of this? I see on GPA a coverless signed by Stan went for $2000 last August and a copy with the wrong back cover went for $3550 last Nov. So I'm thinking coverless are probably more in the $1300-$2000 range. IMO, since AGGIEZ's outer wrap is really beat up I'd put this one more in the $1300-$1500 range. Still, a great copy to own! I'd tend to agree with you...I'm thinking $2K. I'm considering moving it so maybe we'll find out soon enough...

  18. What do you think my copy would go for these days??
  19. Speculation on GOTG team expansion? That's not even the same Quasar that was in the GOTG/Annihilation books
  20. Well, except for those of us who think it should be... Marvel Preview 7 - 'First Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' Summer 1976 IH 271 - 'Second Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' May 1982 My point is Marvel Preview #7 is the first appearance, although a magazine. Some people pimp IH #271 as the first comic book appearance of Rocket Raccoon (with a cover appearance). However, MP #7 is more valuable. Yet Marvel Super Special #16 (magazine) is the first appearance of Boba Fett, but Star wars #42 is more valuable. The same logic does not apply. Yes, the market will decide, but sometimes the "rules" are as clear cut as you think. This surprises you why? Logic in our hobby is a purple unicorn... I was being sarcastic - it's not consistent at all. It's just something the collective public has drifted towards. FWIW, thats what's called out on the CGC tags for these books. So was I (thumbs u The inconsistency is frustrating some times, but livetoplayanotherday... The inconsistency is indeed, frustrating. The herd mentality further fueling that inconsistency is even more frustrating. And this is different from real life, how? Real life can be frustrating too. You know what really frustrates me...the inconsistency in MLB with the designated hitter....and putting together IKEA furniture...
  21. Just watched the finale. Freaking awesome show! The only thing I kept rolling my eyes at was how much Daredevil got his are kicked. When the little old Chinese lady kicked him to the group...pulease. I guess this is the "origin" season. Was freaking incredible!
