History of the Thread: The Themed Art Collection Thread - 2021 Edition ----- Below is the latest list of known Themed Art Collections. It is not exhaustive, but there are a lot of great collections to visit. The only real rule is that the theme be in a gallery. If a theme is scattered across multiple galleries, I won't post the link because it’s too hard to see the theme. Sorry about that. Otherwise, assuming it’s not illegal, immoral, or hate filled (my judgement), I'm going to list it. This one came to me when J. Scott Campbell came to my LCS (Bedrock City Comic Company in Houston) and was willing to take commissions for delivery when he showed up. I couldn't think of a good idea and blew it off. Later, it occurred to me that Caitlin from Gen13 arm-wrestling with the Silver Age Supergirl would have been fun. That led to this theme. Alex Johnson's Sugar and Spike #100 Covers - http://cafurl.com?i=24453 Sheldon Mayer's S&S is a marvel, but due to eye problems he had to stop with issue 98. Later, DC did a 99th issue reprinting stories that he did for outside the US once his eyes were healed. However, there's never been a 100th issue. The call has gone out through the multiverse for assistance in the Search for Superman. However, Superman is not a model prisoner and has engineered numerous escape attempts. During his brief moments of freedom he has been able to leave a sign that he was in that place (or time) in the hope that his allies will be able to use the information and track him down. His unknown captors continue to transport him across multiple dimensions to keep him hidden while seeking a way to destroy him once and for all. There are also forces battling against Superman's allies in an attempt to ensure that Superman is never located. The search is on and these pieces will tell the story. This topic and the text were suggested by our @Dr. Balls. Added the upcoming Original Art Expo to be held in Orlando under the auspices of Bill Cox as a new point of contact. Some minor editorial updates.

I suspect the seller of this piece is mournful. May 2018 ~%6K June 2023 ~$4.5K Of course, that neglects the 20% off the bid of $3800 for another $760 down the hole. Total loss: $2935 ($5975 - (3800 (winning bid) - 760 (Seller's payment to HA)) Ouch. That's a loss of basically 50%. OTOH, the much more interesting Sprang recreation did well: $7800 with BP.

Like most, he was a little puzzled, but quite game to give it a shot.I'm glad he was.The result is one of his inspirations for another well known Green Lantern character - Parallax, a corrupted Hal Jordan. Wow indeed! Nov 22 to June 23 and drops from 35K to 13K. That hurts and that doesn't count the amount paid to Heritage on the $13K. I had to check several times to be sure that I got the dates right.

Last time, it was for my Artist's Choice sketchbook where they draw what they want and tell me why they drew that. This time? I had him update my Sheldon Mayer sketchbook. In it, the artist does his take on one of Sheldon Mayer's characters, e.g., Scribbly, Sugar and Spike, and pretty much all of DC's catalog. He chose the kids based on my S&S 91 cover art.
