I love Nick’s work. In this case, I had him add a sketch of S&S with Jon to my Sheldon Mayer sketchbook. I think he did a great job, but I hope the kids get away safely! Walter doesn’t do commissions (with rare exceptions), but he will do convention sketches for fans until his hand falls off. I’ve wanted a commission from him for some time, but I never had a good idea and then it clicked. I printed my S&S 100 template (donated by Dave Aikins) and planned my attack. I had three days at Baltimore Comic Con and needed three things - his signature, a tiny Sugar and a tiny Spike sliding down it. Walt did it! Signature and Sugar on the first pass. Scribbly was a cartoonist who started his career in his early teens to support his family. He was Sheldon Mayer’s semi-autobiographical character. From the Scribbly, we gained the hero of heroes - the original Red Tornado (Ma Hunkel), an original JSAer. Scribbly work was very close to Sheldon and I’ve wanted a piece for a long time. I believe that this is correct if and only if the proceeds go directly to the charity. If they go to Mike and he gives it to the charity, he can count the $ as a contribution, but the buyer cannot. Of course, I'm not a tax expert. One should consult with a true expert.

Yes, I did ask. He wrote that he met Joe in 1983 and got him to sign it. He also said he had bought it earlier from Stu Reisbord of Cartoon Carnival.

I followed through Cody Starbuck, Scorpion, Dominic Fortune, and eventually American Flagg! which was interrupted by my roughly 10 year hiatus.Despite the time, Ironwolf has stuck with me and Howard kindly agreed to provide a "cover" for the series.I've never seen pages from the original series in the open market. Hmm... Only one. That's a challenge since I've had a really fun year collecting - benefit of selling some of my comic collection. I think I'll go with my Superman strip (1291) - signed by Shuster to Ike Wilson, probably laid out by Shuster with finishes by Boring and faces by Shuster as was still common in 1943. @duplicatecomics, This came up earlier on this thread. Heritage changed the attribution to "Bob Kane Studio" after I and others complained. I think they should mention Lynne and the lawsuit. I think that extra information makes the piece more interesting, but...

That's my definition of an agent. I do know that ComicArtHouse will handle convention bookings do Felix and Essential Sequential and others that I'm forgetting, but I don't consider that acting as an agent.

As you wrote, to us, the art buying public consumers. I doubt that any art reps are also agents.

Promotion of the artist and the artist's work is another duty that I believe they provide especially Felix.
