  2. Time to squander a little more of the kids' inheritance. Though actually, the spending happened some time ago. The results arrived today.Mike Kunkel's Herobear and the Kid is a wonderful story of a young man, his toy bear, and his family. Mike describes it this way on his website:Herobear and the kid is a nostalgic view of childhood, complete with new schools, bullies, true love, imagination, and… a magic bear. After his grandfather passes away, young Tyler inherits an old stuffed toy bear and broken pocket watch. He soon learns that things aren’t always what they seem, and that you shouldn’t judge a bear by its cover.---I fell in love with it on first reading back in 2008. It's taken a long time to get on his list and I'm thrilled that I finally did. Thanks, Mike. It's perfect and more than you promised! Click the link for a bigger picture.

  4. I value it for what left my bank account - Bid + BP + Taxes + S/H. I record each fact separately in my spreadsheet to give a total. If I were to sell (I've sold two pieces in 17 years), I'd ask at least that total for the piece.
  5. I don’t know, but… Go to Comic Art Tracker, enter his name, and check the listings. You should be able to figure out his rep if he has one.
  6. The spoiler text in the first post on this thread might be of use. Comments, questions, concerns, and suggested improvements are welcome.
  7. Re: Sales Price of DKR #1 Cover If we are trying to guess the price that this cover brings, we can gain a little info from the Heritage archives. Here are two outstanding images from the book. They were sold about a decade ago for circa $500K. Prices in top end OA have skyrocketed since then. Is the cover better/more popular than these images? Maybe. Has high end art gone up 5x in the last 10 years? Probably in general. Perhaps a lot more for particularly popular images like this. Does that set the floor at $2.5M. Could be. Are there at least two people willing to spend that? Beats me. It will be interesting to see.
  8. I love Thom's work. I even have a piece of published OA for Love and Capes! If you are curious, click here. In fact, I like it so much that I hired him to draw and -script the story of my courtship with my wife. You can see the cover (OA) and read the comic here. I'm glad to see someone else appreciate his work.
  9. Two new pieces of art: An addition to my wife’s Strong Women sketchbook featuring Claire from Adventureman by Terry Dodson: https://cafurl.com?i=27616 A remarque in my copy of the Adventureman HC: I strongly recommend Adventureman by Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson. The new HC matches the French bande dessinée format. More than that, Terry drew the artwork larger than the more common in the US 11x17 format so that it would look better in the HC. The book is affordable and beautiful with a terrific story. Check it out.
  10. My condolences to his friends and family. He did wonderful work both on boards and in helping creators.
  11. I like it when an artist can make some extra money by selling copies of my commissions as prints. I've had it happen a few times: Yale Stewart Thom Zahler (the first two were actually suggested by my daughter; the third was a gift)
  12. Spencer turns up on the Clan McDonald FB Group periodically. He's also at various cons. I've seen him at HeroesCon before.
  13. The last 6 months or so have been great for my comic art collecting! In August, I collected a long term goal - a published, one-page Sugar and Spike story. In January, I accomplished a similarly long-term goal. I acquired the cover from issue 91 of Sugar and Spike. I never thought I'd get one; they just don't turn up.When this one showed up on Heritage, I bid on it and won. The lot also included the color guide and the printer's proof. It's a nice grouping. If you look at the additional images, you will see those plus the published cover and the cover to issue 24 where the idea was first used.Hope it makes you smile. It certainly makes me smile.P.S. Apologies to my kids; the inheritance has shrunk.https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1794912
  14. I stepped away because it was too darned expensive! I don't care about resale (I'll be dead), but I do care about upfront cost. (and, yes, a Shooter/Swan/Klein page is WAY up on my want list).
  15. I won a piece in the Jan auction, but I'm superstitious and won't post it until I receive it someday!

    Congrats

@glenbru I suspect that the concern is that they were advertised and are marked as Etherium only and not dual marked. Me? I don't care what the currency is bananas, dollars, crypto. If I like it and the price is in my range, I'll buy; otherwise, I won't.
  17. I have something similar from Todd Reis. It's a recreation of the cover of the first comic that I ever bought (JLA 29, 1st Series). Click the image to see a bigger picture.
  18. I didn't buy a lot this year, but what I bought I really enjoy. Only one piece (the faux S&S 100 cover by Bill Morrison) cost more than $550. Awesome year for me. For me, at least, there's a lot out there that I can afford.
  19. Yeah, someone on FB was asking for leads on affordable McCay originals. I pointed him at Comic Art Tracker for leads to McCay pages, but I made no promises that he'd find them affordable.
  20. Everything I know is covered on the thread called Pricing Comic Art - Update.
  21. Love the Sprang and Shuster! The rest are terrific, too, but those two I would want for my collection. Congrats.
