  1. You are braver than I. I don't want to make a commitment that I can't keep even when I know they can't fulfill their side.
  2. I'm one of those with only one site blocked and you can guess which one. I'd buy from them, but only in person.
  3. I'm not courageous enough for that. Maybe they would use the HA mechanism to make me an offer on my cover and so that they could sell it to me? : :
  4. I did enquire after I made that post. Here's the response from Steve (full response in spoiler text, emphasis is his): MAYER, SHELDON - Sugar and Spike #92 cover, MAYER, SHELDON - Sugar and Spike take up water…skiing? 100% original artwork! Published version was a stat with touched-up inks. - $11,950 = ON SALE FOR ONLY $9,950 He clearly didn't check his inventory or they have an exact copy. The description is accurate for my piece. The quoted amount is only 3.2x what I paid at auction in January. I think I'll write back and point out the January sale and mention that I know that they've had their ad up for longer than that. We will see.
  5. Re: Harlan's name raising the sale price I know it has zero impact on my bids for art. Pedigree for comics is more of a big deal, I think.
  6. They crack me up. On this link, you will find them selling a cover that I own. Bought it off Heritage. I assume that they are too busy to take it down. Every once in awhile I enquire about it. No response.
  7. Yep. I collected links and put it together. It’s my thing.
  8. The one I wanted went for what I thought was a fair amount, but I tend to collect in a small niche. I was lucky that the other one or two interested folks either weren’t enthralled or were absent.
  9. I won something! That seldom happens and I won it at a price that I think is fair. One of the benefits of liking things few others do.
  10. Okay, if WW with friends counts, how is this? Click for a bigger image.
  11. I've got my eye on one piece, but my hopes are low though my bid is high for me.
  12. I have a couple. Wonder Woman by her co-creator H. G. Peter. Click the image to get a bigger look.
  13. I think the art he's posting is art he purchased but never got around to posting. Amazing pieces for this old LSH fan.
  14. There's a lot of information on the Pricing Comic Art - Update - 2021 thread. Just expand the hidden / spoiler text. It's long so I keep it hidden.
  15. I know that all of you have been waiting to see the latest adventures of Sugar and Spike. I know that I have. Until DC produces the comic book again, I'm filling in by creating faux covers for the next issue - number 100! In this installment, the kids have been transported to Earth-Groo. A world similar in some respects to Medieval Europe, but loaded with strange creatures and mass destruction mostly caused by Groo. They landed right in the middle of Groo story that spanned two issues of Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer from Epic Comics, Marvel imprint. In those issues, the Fountain of Youth is found and destroyed. Unusually for a Groo story, he didn't cause the destruction directly. Our kids certainly landed in a mess. Take a look: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1860865 For those that don't know, Sergio is a long time contributor to Mad Magazine. The first thing I did when I got an issue was to review his "marginals," the little cartoons in the margins of the pages. Be sure to check out what else is going on in Sergio's Facebook page, Aragones Cartoons!

  17. Dan DeCarlo images of Betty and Veronica in swimsuits, especially bikini's, sell for a lot more than his other B&V centered work and have for years though the numbers are not this high.
  18. As I understand it, the penciler keeps his/her pages and the inker his/hers assuming that there transfer between them is electronic. Of course, other agreements exist, but that seems most common.
  19. The general rule for sometime has been 2/3 to the penciler and 1/3rd for the inker from DC and Marvel.
  20. I’d amend this to “Nobody with piles of spare cash cares about DC.” Makes me wonder if there is a correlation between you favorite comic universe and income/wealth/compulsion to collect.
  21. I'm a Admin on that page and the membership growth has amazed me. We have new people every day. One could say that this forum isn't moderated sufficiently to stop the blow-ups and remove the troublemakers, but as an Admin I will not cast stones. It's hard work. We (Frank Giella (our founder), Art Cloos, and I) work really hard to keep it friendly. We have screening questions and if they aren't all answered, we delete the request. We have rules and we enforce them. We will boot repeat troublemakers though that does take all three of us. Glad that it pays off in user statisfaction. I agree completely. It's much easier here. I appreciate the larger area to type and the formating tools. That's also true on Facebook. I'm in two such private groups. I'm sure that there are more.
