  1. My advice:

    1) Buy what you like.

    2) Buy what you can afford

    3) Pick a theme and stick to it; it makes the experience more fun

Covers, panel pages, commissions, etc. doesn't matter if you follow these rules.

On the other hand if you are investing here are a few generalities (exceptions can be found):

    1) Published beats unpublished

    2) Covers beat splashes beat panel pages

    3) Artists with a long tenure tend to be more valuable over time especially if they are strong associated with a particular character

  2. I had Chris Ivy create an overlay for my Dan DeCarlo "Archie Andrews, Where Are You?" cover.

It's on a clear overlay attached to the original with an easily removed tape. It's not framed yet, but that's the way that I'll frame it.

Chris was fast and reasonably priced. He's very reliable based on my experience and on the number of times I've seen him used for commissions by Michael (OML guy) Finn.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Thom Zahler of Love and Capes (LnC) does prints for each show he attends featuring the Crusader and Abby flying around landmarks of the various cities.

Below are some of the sites he's picked - maybe they will inspire you.

BTW, Thom's LnC is wonderful and these all feature those characters and style. He did a recreation for me that I really enjoy - quick, talented, and (for now) inexpensive compared to lots of folks. His style does vary based on the requested subject..

  4. I'm a long-term LSH fan; I received my first Adventure featuring the Legion 46 years ago (more or less) while in the hospital during the 3rd grade. I was hooked.

I've been lucky enough to get LSH images from a number of the best Legion artists:

and now I have another great one - Mike Grell.

My wonderful wife chose to commission Mike for my 55th birthday and he really delivered. Check it out here.

  5. New Art Day for me! I have wanted a "real" Infantino Elongated Man piece to go with my Adam Strange and The Silver Age Flash sketches. I haven't see many, if any, of the pages from the backup Elongated Man stories in Detective, but Mike Burkey did have this on his site recently.

As soon as I saw it, I laid claim and now it's in my hands.

Justice League of America #200 P37, a one page battle scene of the Flash racing uphill against the Elongated Man - 11x17.

If I can find a reasonably priced Infantino Batman, I think I'll frame the four of them together.

Anyway, check it out here and leave a comment.

There's some interesting "warm-up" inking on the back which I show in the Additional Images section of the CAF page.

For the link impaired, here's the picture:

  6. It's easy enough assuming you have it posted on-line somewhere like ComicArtFans

    • In your browser, go to the "somewhere" and right click on the image. You will get a choice in the contextual menu that says something like "Copy image URL".
    • Select "Copy image URL"
    • Come to the Collector's Society Original Art Forum.
    • Select your thread of interest.
    • Go to the reply box.
    • Select "Switch to Full Reply Screen"
    • Click on the third icon from the left above the box. If you hover your pointer over it, the tool tip will say "Enter an image"
    • Paste the URL into the box
    • Click on "OK"
    • Click on "Preview Post" to see what you have done.
    • If you like it, hit "Submit." If not, correct and retry.

You'll see the instructions embedded in your message which means that you can memorize them and avoid the switch to the "Full Reply" screen.

And one just because I like it, here's one of mine. Consider being forced to look at it as the cost of the lesson. :)

  7. I posted it on my CAF. I can't hot link the image.

Terrific piece - classic fanboy zombie! What more could you want from a dead geek?

By the way, right click on the CAF image, choose Copy Image URL, switch to the boards, choose the Reply, click on "Switch to Full Reply Screen", click on the third icon from the left, paste to populate the URL field, hit return and you are done.

    For example, see this:

Alternatively, you can use the "[", img, "]" and "[" "/img" ']" tags directly with the path in the middle.

    Speed-D taught me this trick.
