Not to come out of left field, but is there any hope for  2nd print TMNT #2? even in 9.8?
I like that the First issue gets all the attention, but again with albedo as well, after the 1st appearance of the main characters the turtles, it kind of dwindles.

No love for April? Mousers and etc?

There's love.  Just acquired it.  Thanks!

Was surprised at the 2nd print price tag for TMNT 1 2nd print.  Went ahead and grabbed the #2 2nd print.  Anyone else grab anything from Comic Link auction tonight?

Was able to win the following:

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1  CGC 9.8 NM/MT
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #2  CGC 9.8 NM/MT
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #33  CGC 9.8 NM/MT
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #47  CGC 9.8 NM/MT

  3. So, my brain in action... see if this makes any sense... There are several low quantity CGC 9.8 in the TMNT Mirage Studios First Run 84' - .  I have seen a couple CBCS 9.8 out in the wild that I could get my hands on to THEN have pressed and Submitted at CGC for the 9.8 status to help in my quest of having all issues in CGC 9.8 respectively.

Has anyone tried this idea prior?  I know I know there is the apparent risk associated with this idea of it grading down but stubborn is stubborn and the quest must be fulfilled as prophesized

Fingers crossed for you, but for what it’s worth, something similar happened to one of my first submissions to CGC three years ago (well before USPS’s current troubles). Had visions of my thousands of dollars worth of comics just sitting on someone’s desk, waiting to be processed, or worse, sitting in the back of a USPS truck, getting crushed daily by other deliveries. A couple days later the books showed up on CGC’s site for processing. Guessing yours have arrived at CGC already, but weren’t signed for to show delivery. 🤞🏻

So the Sarasota post office called and they have it in the locked box.  She is VERY familiar with CGC and makes about 3-4 calls to concerned customers each day.  She stated that I was correct in sending registered mail as its in a locked box until dispersed to CGC who is getting 25 - 30 packages a day and takes multiple loads or trips to get all the boxes.  With registered mail it is signed at each station and allows easy tracking however is somewhat slower.

Anyways, all good. Was impressed with how familiar they are with CGC!!!

So I've taken everyone's suggestion and guidance/expertise in the thread and submitted the following today for grade at CGC due to either scarcity within the consensus for 9.6 and 9.8 or multiple copies that may result in 1 of 2 (fingers crossed) receiving the coveted 9.8 grading...

    Second Submission to CGC
    #1 Malibu Comics Malibu Sun #13 5/92 QTY 1
#2 Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 1985 Fourth Printing     QTY 2
#3 Mirage Studios Michaelangelo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle #1 1986 QTY 2
#4 Mirage Studios Leonardo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle #1 12/86 QTY 2
#5 Mirage Studios Donatello, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle #1 8/86 QTY 2
#6  Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #11 6/87 QTY 2
#7  Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #14 2/88 QTY 1
#8  Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13 2/88 QTY 1
#9 Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #16 9/88 QTY 1
#10 Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #15 1988 QTY 1
#11  Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #47 5/92 QTY 1
#12  Mirage Studios Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #28 2/90 QTY1

And as Mikey said, "I love being a turtle."

    Here goes nothing...

I sent this package registered mail and there hasn't been an update since January 20th...

Your item departed our USPS facility in SARASOTA, FL 34260 on January 20, 2022 at 12:31 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

This is my worst nightmare as it contained all the low quantity CGC 9.6/9.8 comics for TMNT teens as well as a perfect condition Malibu Sun 13 first appearance of Spawn...

  6. Having read a thread now close, I will say one thing of value that came from it is collectible insurance.  As stated in my thread, I have allocated a relatively (to me) large sum of money to complete the TMNT Mirage Studios #1-#62 collection.  Already the "quest" as I'm calling it has gone into five figures with the expectation of it topping six figures before it is all said in done, by end of 23'.

My question to the group of experts and collectors alike, is there a specific insurer that collectors have seen are head and shoulders above the rest?
Would using my local home, auto, jewelry, and boat insurer suffice?

Not wanting to over think it but honestly, asking this group questions first has already proven to be the wise and prudent approach.

Thanks as always, and wish everyone the best in their day and collection goals.

$75 a book, assuming decent grades, isn't terrible.

    Good to know.

Last night I woke up around 3AM with a sudden thought that I don't think I flipped my second submissions when I put the packing slip in.  Hopefully it won't cause serious delays as they are currently stacked inversely.

My personal suggestion?  If you don't need the books ASAP, don't pay for such expensive submissions.  All of these would qualify for Modern.  Modern Fast track with High Res would have run you $756, and you could have taken that $383 to either submit more books OR buy more books.  Just my 2c

Going to go this route for the third submission of the series I'm packaging now.  Thanks!

Now that is financially sound advice!  Thank you!
