  1. Yep. I think you are onto something. Heck, why stop at comics. Let’s just make everything cheaper.
  2. Yep. Because the cost of paper and ink is the only thing that goes into making a comic book.
  3. I don’t think a freeze is the way to go. Like it or not, there are a lot of people that make their living selling comics they have CGC grade. I think a good option may be to not allow brand new books to be submitted. Maybe make it so a book must be at least six months old before or can be sent in. This could cut back on people sending new books in based on speculation.
  4. I figured I’d be responsible for a reholder. It’s not too bad on the front so I think I can live with it.
  5. Is it possible to have CGC replace a case that has scuffs on the inside if I wasn’t the person to make the submission? I won a graded book on whatnot but there appears to be marks on the inside of the plastic slab. Both front and back. Will CGC accept this for a free replacement case if I contact them or am I stuck with the book as is since I didn’t make the original submission?
  6. I wonder what turnaround times would change to if CGC implemented a minimum age for books that get submitted? For example no books newer than 18 months can be submitted. I’m sure there are a ton of new books that get submitted every month just so they can be flipped. I think something like this could go a long way to decreasing turn around times and helping the overall market become more consistent.
  7. That’s how I hoped they would be considered. I picked up a second copy for 50 cents at a shop a few days ago that I am going to experiment with trying to buff some out. I’ve used Polywatch to get scuffs out of CGC holders and I think it could help with this type of cover as well. We’ll see.
  8. I found a listing on eBay for this same book that has been graded a 9.8. It appears to have the same type of scratches on the rear cover. Hopefully this means my copy can get a 9.8 as well.
  9. planning on sending my chromium Wildcats 50 in for the upcoming Jim Lee signature series event and would like some opinions in the grade I could possibly get. Overall, I think the book is in really great shape. The only thing that gives me pause are the light surface scratches that are on the front and back covers. I have tried to capture them with the pictures. I feel that this type of cover lends itself to easily picking up these scratches. I am hoping someone here has experience getting a book with this type of cover graded and can provide some insight into if CGC makes any special consideration in regards to these types of scratches. Thanks everyone for any information and guidance you can provide.
  10. Thanks for your opinion. Hopefully, I can pull a 9 with this book.
  11. Awesome to see another gold foil Wildcats! If only we could combine the best part of both our books we would be in good shape. With the embossing, foil, and cards this is a difficult one to press. I have had some luck with my copy, but a full heat press would be nice. For me, I am getting my copy signed and slabbed to display in my personal collection. So while I’d like a nice I grade it isn’t important for resale value. Hopefully you can pull a high enough grade to make a decent profit.
  12. I would be elated with a grade in the 9’s. Considering the crease in the back I’d really like to keep things at an 8 or higher.
  13. The issue came out in late 92 at the same time the series started. I’m not sure exactly when I picked this issue up. It has to have been at least 25 years ago. I was around 11 or 12 when the series started and Jim Lee’s Wildcats was my favorite. I’ll be sending this book, a already graded 9.8 of issue 1, and a chromium cover of issue 50 for the upcoming Lee and Williams signing.
  14. I have pressed the outside corners with some C clamps and no heat. It has made an improvement but obviously the color breaking can’t be fixed. However, the corner is flattening out quite well. A traditional pressing with heat press seems out of the question with the cover being embossed foil.
  15. Got graded at a 9.0. Grader notes state “bend right top of front cover through book” I guess they missed the crease on the back cover Hello there. I am planning on submitting my gold foil WildC.A.T.S. #1 for the upcoming Jim Lee and Scott Williams signing. Unfortunately, it does have a crease on the top back corner of the cover. I am assuming this will keep the book out of the 9’s. However, I have no experience or reference for grading books and would like to know if I can expect the book to be in the 8’s, 7’s or lower. I would also like to hear on what I can expect for page color as well. I have successfully pressed out the bends on the corners of the interior pages. I just haven’t taken new pictures. Thanks for all the help!
