I've heard several streamers mentioning a black label for trading cards. Is this true? When would this happen if so?

The "Black Label" is the perfect quad 10 from a different grading company.

We have to make another adjustment to the holder and do another ship test.  It will most likely be another 3 weeks before we have any new information regarding this.

Hey @CGC Mike, Pokemon TCG just released a new product with metal cards, the Arceus V and Vstar. These metal cards seem a bit different to me when it comes to the color/painting on them, any word that you will be testing how to grade these metal cards? And if it might be as hard or easier for them?

    Thanks!

    Hey Snorlax,

Were you successful with your resub for adding subgrades? Interested to hear how your experience went. Did your previous grades hold?

I am going to be submitting 5 or so cards in the next month to add sub grades to the labels.

    Yes I was successful!

I submitted about 8 cards, all 8 or 9 already, and all held their grade, but 1 of my cards, originally a 9, did come back as a 9.5. I think this is probably extremely rare and it also wasn't a very expensive card.

Basically they do have to crack the slabs, re-examine them, but CGC Mike has posted in several posts that it is guaranteed your grade won't go down, unless it does get damaged when they try and crack it open.

do you mean as a re holder or just a crossover. i ask becasue i do not see subgrades as an option for re holder

You submit it the same as a raw card and select subgrades to be added. Your grade will not decrease and will be reslabbed and given a new cert number

Can anyone see why these would have graded a 7?

To get a 7, I would think there would need to be some damage to the card. Any body see something that I'm missing?

I wish there was a way to get more insight in why a card graded a certain grade.

I second this. Lets' call the set the "Pokédex" and include the original, vintage 151 Pokémon.

Oh wow that isn't even how I meant it, but super cool idea too!

I meant like how we have the Chairzard Set, Venusaur Set, Alakazam Set etc already, they should prioritize enabling that for all of the original 151 pokemon first.

A set with the first appearance of the original 151 pokemon would be super cool too tho!

I’ve had cards graded fast by CGC but receiving them back takes almost 3 weeks after they have been shipped…I send cards to PSA and receive my cards back in 2 days. Why does CGC use registered mail and PSA use priority mail…values on the cards are nearly the same …

Priority Mail insurance caps at $100 a package. (But for certain items can be extended up to $5,000)

Registered/Insured mail that CGC returns ships with goes up to $50,000 and is less than the Priority mail add on.

  8. I just got my email code yesterday to receieve a special delivery charizard from pokemon center and when I looked to see if it was on the submission form yet it still only showed Special Delivery Charizard with "Inadvertent Early Release."

When mine shows up, is it safe to choose this option on my submission from, or should we wait till the submission form is updated?

  9. I was curious why two of my similar, yet very different in value cards have the same registry score. The cards Im talking about are:

Snorlax Vivid Voltage Prerelease Promo, Blackstar Promo SwSh 068

    And

Snorlax Vivid Volatge Prelease Promo (Staff Stamp), Blackstar Promo SwSh 068.

Both cards are a 9.5 and both yield the same 166 registry points. However, the staff stamp versions of promo cards are much rarer, with around 90% less of them showing up in the pop report as their non-staff stamp counterpart.

Also from what I can tell looking at other registry sets, the Lugia+Snorlax+Donphan promos that are part of the vivide voltage set, all yield the same registry points at the same grades, but the 4th promo, Charizard, recieves more.

Now I understand Charizard would get a premium, but if its based on monetary value should we not also see more registry points for the much rarer and expensive staff stamp promos for all 4?

Let me know what you think and if there are any other cards like this that you have seen have this unexpected symmetry in registry points.
