  1. My biggest issue with this is actually the transparency of the cover (when you see the printing on the inside cover). It doesn’t seem to affect the grade but the experts can chime in. I do not have a good sense of what books will be graded, etc. I have owned a few books with bad transparency. X1 is notorious for it. But people don’t seem to care and I don’t get that. If you have one of these books in front of you, it’s hard to appreciate the book when the see-through of the inside cover advertising is so visible and prominent. Just curious about other people’s views on that…
  2. Ok. I’m gonna be laying out some detective work… this is definitely a scam. So this same book last traded at Heritage in 2016. See link: https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/amazing-fantasy-15-marvel-1962-cgc-nm-94-off-white-pages/a/7124-91113.s?gck=1efb56b5-27c9-4eb8-9435-c94c59cfe789&utm_source=GoCollect&utm_medium=Growth_Partner&utm_campaign=Sponsored_Listing&utm_term=Amazing+Fantasy+%2315&utm_content=7124-91113 in that HA listing you will see the back cover has writing in the bottom that is “461”. Pic here: This eBay listing just pulled a different picture of a back cover with the same old label as it is clearly a different book because it does not have that “461”. As I said, already a lot of red flags but I think we can safely conclude this is not a legit listing. The scammer aimed really high with that 9.4 as it was so easy to identify the book given how few copies there are… that’s all folks.
  3. That definitely hangs together! Here’s an interesting one for you… this is graded by cgc 6.5. How much did the 20 cent stamp knock down the grade by?
  4. Unfortunately I bought online and the seller knew what they had. I’ve always wondered about the 20 cent stamp as well. Have not been able to figure it out though and just now appreciate the humor in it…
  5. Agree with this. Beyond the auction houses, you have the dealers. But (admittedly the few) dealers that I’ve come across seem to always price higher than the auction house results… a bit of a head scratcher given lack of fees. These Boards seem to be the most reasonable place in my experience but it is way slower…
  6. Primarily an X-Men collector so have this one and the X-Men 107 (1st starjammers), this one was definitely difficult to find…
  7. Picked this up about a year and a half ago… never got around to sharing it here. Do people appreciate Graphic Novel CPVs on the boards? I think the cpvpriceguide.com crew do at least?
  8. @Get Marwood & I been reading your stuff for a while. Was quite happy to get this SA key in pence!
  9. My entry. Have been looking for a SA key that is a pence and it ended up being this one…
  10. I will pile on… I got mine thanks to @alexgross.com. We don’t have a picture together though… thanks for the awesome book Alex!
  11. Problem with those dark greens is that they seem to tend to have a higher “transparency” on that front cover where you can see the ad on the back of the cover’s text. I may just be imagining it, but it seems that that “transparency” issue is not as bad with the lime greens. Interestingly, there seem to be ones that are in between lime and dark green that are consistently the best in terms of not having that transparency issue. I’m probably imagining all of this, but curious if people have noticed this too / have the same problem with this transparency thing…
  12. Just did a big deal with Alex. Incredible experience all around! Very reasonable to negotiate with, book was exactly as described (actually better in my opinion, as think he has a more critical eye than me!) and book was sent with great care and speed. If only we can all deal with guys like Alex all the time . Thanks a lot man!
  13. Not pointless. Literally what this forum is for. With that awesome book, flex away my man. Flex away.
  14. Same exact book sold in June 2021 for $807K. So with fees, would be interesting what net was to seller vs their cost. https://www.comicconnect.com/item/919592?tzf=1#description Given the high grade, would not interpret this headline price increase as being applicable to the more "normal" grade levels.

  16. @bronze johnny and @Kevin76, I bet if you were talking in person you would have become friends. The internet is like a black symbiote suit... (see what I did there?)
  17. Following @alexgross.com’s lead… Here’s my entry to the club. Picked it up about 6 months ago so probably hit the peak of the market but still really happy to have it!
  18. I would assume this matters a lot on the 4.0 you referenced, but the last two 4.0s you mentioned presented very nicely for the grade. The current 4.0 on HA has significant marvel chipping and doesn’t present as well. Not as big of an expert as others here but think that will result in a real discount versus those other 4.0s.
