  1. ...and here's what somebody did to his copy before I bought it. [/img]
  2. You should be buying that book. My wife just bought it for me!
  3. A well-deserved nod to Dick_Pontoon for his smooth transaction. Absolutely everything was as he said it would be. Hoping to do more business with you! Spoon Pontoon rhymes.
  4. Big ups to trmoore54 for his amazing deal on a slabbed FF! I'd have posted this sooner, but I've been unwrapping the thing for the last half hour! Paranoid packaging, and great, fast follow thru. When I get more money, it's yours, sir.
  5. Really enjoy Kirby's stories in Battle. True Storytime! Yesterday, I'm talking to a collector friend of mine about GI Combat 87, and I even descibe the cover. Also during the conversation, we both state that we've not been in a certain local shop in too long. Today, I decide to go to that shop, Dragon's Lair in Omaha, NE. I see that same friend walking out as I'm coming in. He starts laughing, and shows me his purchase; you guessed it, GI Combat 87. The thing was a solid VG, and it sold for sixty freaking dollars. I missed it by ten minutes, tops. They do still have a decent OAAW 91 that I'm considering...
  6. I had to add JIM 50 to my want list. My Kirby-Goggles fooled me into thinking the run started with 51.
  7. Congratulations! 1st Ice Cream Soldier. (thumbs u Andy Not to mention the 2nd Kubert issue. . . In some ways I think it's MORE like a "#2" (if #83 is #1) than #84. The definitive Kubert Rock stuff begins with a "one off", so to speak, in #83. Then in #84, it's Rock all right, just not a Kubert Rock. Love Novick's stuff, but it's just NOT that Kubert grit, abstraction, graphic dissonance, and beautiful inking all in one. We get treated to the same KILLER stuff in #85 that we got in #83. #86 and #87 are Kubert again. #88 and #89 are MISSING Kubert again. It's like Kanigher still needed MORE convincing. Always experimenting. And then Kubert draws #90 which is where the Kanigher/Kubert team REALLY kicks into high gear with an origin no less!!!! Then it's no looking back for 16 uninterrupted issues of utter inspiration and brilliance from Kanigher and Kubert!!!! Criminy! My adrenaline gets pumping just thinking about how cool that run is. Mine too! I'm even gladder I bought it now! This is my oldest Kubert Rock. Thanks for the jolt!
  8. Holy beans! That's stupifying!
  9. The other FF is #78. At the far left is an Eternals page, and I couldn't get the Capt. Victory in the shot.
  10. I just kinda stumbled into OA with a $2 Sal B Hulk page a billion years ago. What that purchase mostly did was create a genuine need for a Fantastic Four page by Kirby. (Great Perez pages, BTW. I remember them well!). [/img] Maybe someday I'll trade 'em all for a better Kirby FF page, but for now I'm happy.
  11. My copy of NY Fair '40 has blank covers; dunno about the rest. My World's Finest 10 has a contents page in front and a 1 pager in back, all in blue for whatever reason.
  12. Those 5 comics don't get nearly enough love. Beautiful!
  13. The New Blackhawk Era! These always come up when we discuss the worst silver age comics ever. Naturally I want them all!
  14. I really just dabble in DC war, so I'd like some expert feedback if you'd all be so kind; Is G.I. Combat #88 really easy to find? I just had a guy at our tiny, local show sell me a great VG copy for $20. I would have thought the second Haunted Tank would command more respect.
  15. TOS #1 was my first exposure to Al Williamson's pencils. Been a big fan since.
  16. Hulk Annual 5 is what got me into PHMs. I did a little happy dance when I scored Diablo's appearance; it completed my set of all the Hulk Annual 5 monsters!
  17. I envy anyone who gets to savor the experience of a first reading of a Kirby FF. Enjoy, effendi!
  18. A great example from a great era of the greatest run in the history of The World's Greatest Comic Magazine!
